30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days - Day 1

Welcome to day 1 of
30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days.

A blog hop and sew along.

It's like a month-long quilting party with friends and prizes.

Every day in April there will be one quilt block for the sew along here
and
one designer showing a project with that block on their blog.

30 days of designers
showing new and different ways to use each of the
30 quilt blocks.

Keep in mind, these are super simple blocks but each one can make a beauty of a quilt.

April 1st designer - Creatin’ in the Sticks (me)

Let's get started with quilt block #1.

Today we celebrate with the most simple block

The 4 patch.

Size Unfinished: 10 1/2" x 10 1/2"

Finished Size: 10 x 10"

Cut 4 squares 5 1/2"

Stitch them together as laid out with 1/4" seams.

Block #1, Four Patch, complete.

Only 29 more to go to make this modern quilt with lots of negative space for quilting.

If you love this block, you could always make a bunch of them for a quilt.

Check out what our designer of the day, Creatin' in the Sticks made with this block.

I am using Tula Pink's newest fabric collection, All Stars to show each block.

And you can win your own bundle of All Stars too.
The giveaway starts April 1st and ends April 29th.
I will announce the winner on the last day of the blog hop
April 30th.

Click HERE to enter the giveaway.

Comment on the designer of the day and come back here to enter every day in April
for a chance to win the All Stars fabric bundle.

Here is the full schedule for the month of April and links to tutorials for each block.

Very exciting that you are using Tula Pink All Stars. I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely and adorable Tula on Wednesday, March 28th. She is one amazing lady. This should be a great hop. I will try to keep up.

Hi, Carla! I am so excited. This day has finally arrived. The hop I've been thinking about for months has begun. I think I'll be making mine in a scrappy rainbow of colors. Thanks for a great hop. Yes, I know it's just starting but you always have such fun things going on here.

I have never made a 4-patch. I tried a nine-patch once and it didn't turn out well.

So sorry I didn't get here yesterday... What would we do without the 4 patch block. So versatile, so easy to create... and so much fun!!

That quilt reminds me of the pieces of printout sort of ticker-tape we used to get way long time ago, when we were entering data in machines. =) It's a fun design!

Whenever I want to do some mindless sewing, I pull out some scraps and make 4 patch blocks. I can always find a good use for them and I they are very relaxing to make.

Followed the link from Freemotion by the River by Connie. I adore the baby quilt that she made with block of the day today. I am a lover of quilt blocks, on my Pinterest board I have 4 separate Quilt Block boards. LOL. It is amazing the variety of quilts that can be made with the change of fabrics, the size and the addition of another block. So thank you for sharing your 30 days of Blocks! Have a great day!
