Bring the Outdoors in with a Fabric Easter Basket Wall Planter - It Holds it's Shape with HeatNBond Craft Interfacing

I am so tired of cold weather and can't wait to get outside and plant flowers.  Here is an easy way to bring the garden inside and it's a great way to decorate for Easter too.  In fact, one of these little wall planters would make the perfect Easter gift or even for May Day baskets.  Making these in seasonal colors like the ones found in Camelot Fabric's Kaleidoscope collection brings spring indoors.

Fabric Basket Wall Planter

Size is for a standard 4" pot with no holes on the bottom.

Supplies:
Heat-n-Bond® – Craft Extra Firm Fusible Interfacing
Heat-n-Bond®  - Fusible Medium Weight Interfacing
Fabric - 3 fat quarters
Thread - Aurfil 50 wt (#5006)
Iron (I love my Oliso Pro)
Sewing Machine
Erasable marking pen
Other general sewing supplies

Fabric cutting:
Outside patchwork:  16 - 2 1/4" squares
Outside bottom(lavender):  1 - 5 1/2" x 7 1/2"
Hanging loop (lavender):  1 - 1 1/2" x 3"
Basket handle (lavender): 1 - 3" x 8"
Lining (teal):  1 - 7 1/2" x 12 1/2"  

Interfacing cutting:
From Heat-n-Bond® – Craft Extra Firm Fusible Interfacing
For basket handle:  1 - 2" x 8"
For outside basket:  1- 7 1/2" x 12 1/2"

From Heat-n-Bond®  - Fusible Medium Weight Interfacing
For basket lining:  1 - 7 1/2" x 12 1/2"

This would be a sweet little Easter basket if the hanging loop is left off. 

 Just fill it with your favorite goodies.

A Quick Little Fleece Stuffed Bunny in an Easter Basket Pocket Pillow

Easter will be here soon and it's now or never for sewing up little gifts.

With a little modification of a pattern

my Friday finish is a sweet little bunny stuffie with it's own Easter basket pillow.

This little bunny is so soft in fleece and the pillow is a soft cotton knit.

The pillow is about 12" and the bunny is almost 13" tall.

The pattern is from this Valentine stuffie bear and pillow that was created for Thermoweb.

The full FREE pattern for this bear and heart pocket pillow is available in PDF form in my Craftsy shop.

Add some ears and whiskers and you can have your own little bunny too.

For the center of the ears and the basket applique, 

new HEATnBOND® LITE SOFT STRETCH™ was used.

It's just like HeatNBond Lite only it's for stretchy fabrics like fleece or knit.

For the pillow, I traced a plate and added a 1/2" for seams and the pocket is just a half circle.

The pocket has the basket bottom appliqued behind it and the handle was appliqued too.

So easy to do and a cute little gift to whip up in an afternoon.

Little Pink House - Project Quilting Season 7 Challenge 5

The Challenge:  Through the Eyes of a Child

Kim at Persimon Dreams hosts Project Quilting.

She announces a challenge and you have one week (due by noon TODAY- central time) to create something quilty.

This is the fifth challenge of six for Season 7 of Project Quilting.

The Rules:

  1.  Your inspiration for this week's challenge is children's art.  Be sure to include a picture of the art that inspired you.

(Luckily we could use one of the examples from the challenge page)

I used Capri's (Kim's daughter's) art as my inspiration. 

  Isn't it cute? 

My first thought when I read the challenge was a house and stick people, Capri is a little more accomplished than that.

2.  Every challenge piece must be a FINISHED project seen through from INCEPTION to COMPLETION during the challenge timeline. Each piece must stand alone as DONE to count toward prizes. 

3.  Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt, but must meet at least one of these requirements:

Include patchwork

Include appliqué.

Have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.

4.  Please remember that these projects need to be created during the week of the challenge. 

5. Link up either a blog post or flickr image  by Sunday, March 6th, 2016, at noon, CDT 

While Capri chose a winter scene, I took the Spring route.  Snowmen go to snow as flowers go to bunnies.....  At least in my mind.

I decided to go the nontraditional route for this challenge and make a toy instead of a quilt.

The pattern I used (modified a little) is McCall's pattern 8346 from 1982.

I couldn't wait to put the Tula Pink fabric on the roof of this house. 

 I thought it looked like a tile roof.

The house is sandwiched with batting and plastic canvas.

Shall we knock on the door to see inside?  lol

The bunny isn't dressed, but he has invited us in...

I still have a bed to make and want to add a momma and baby bunny.

Bunny House Lane

Two little ones are going to have a sweet Easter surprise.

I've finished 2 bunny houses, 2 sets of furniture, and 6 bunnies and all are in their new homes

ready to be loved by little people.

One is for a little boy and one for a little girl.
