Goin' Through Time - Time in a Bottle Blog Hop

Welcome to the first day of the

Time in a Bottle Blog Hop!

I'm happy to kick things off with
"Goin' Through Time"

Carol at Just Let Me Quilt presented bloggers with the challenge to make something
with an hourglass block.
Thank you, Carol, for inviting me to join this super fun blog hop!

I hinted back in November about this quilt and what I had in mind to make
when I made this mug rug for the

I'm trying to use as much of my stash fabric as possible this year
and I cut strips of varying widths to fit with the hourglass blocks.
It was so fun to design and put together this
Rainbow Hourglass quilt
that I call
Goin' Through Time

because the strips go "through" the hourglass blocks.
I have a free tutorial to make hourglass blocks that I made several years ago.

Goin' Through Time
is about 40" x 50" and is quilted with a simple meander.
The backing is a grey Minky fabric for coziness.

I love to make quilts in rainbow colors.

Want some more
Hourglass block inspiration?

Here is the full schedule:

It's so fun to get inspiration from Blog Hops.
I'm sure we will have way too many ideas swimming in our heads by the end of the week.

See you next month for Joan's
(my kind of hop for sure...)

Official sign-ups for the May Blog Hop will start soon
(after the Time in a Bottle blog hop is over).

Stay tuned for the announcement here at

Holiday Hearts with a Twist - Dust Off a Quilt Book Blog Hop

Today is my stop in the
Dust Off a Quilt Book
Blog Hop
Hosted by Bea at Beaquilter.

So, here are my Holiday Hearts with a Twist.

The idea is for the hop is to find an old quilt book on your shelf and make something from it.

Here is my lovely:

The Thimbleberries Book of Quilts by Lynette Jensen
copyright 1995

This book was given to me by a friend from her mom's estate.
Her mom even put her name inside the front cover - so special.

The Holiday Hearts looked like fun - all strip piecing (love)!

I wanted to change things up a bit, so I used all green scraps and made 3 of the 16" hearts.
Once I laid them together, I designed a stem, and presto,
a shamrock!

They are still Holiday Hearts, just a different holiday.

I may stitch them together or I kind of like that I can use them as placemats if I choose.
They are the perfect festive touch for our table this month.

Here is the schedule of those showing off their old quilt book projects:

Please check them out leave them some warm and fuzzy comments.
There are some fun old books to see.

I really do need to use my books more often.
Thanks, Bea, this was fun!

Stripe Me a Diamond - Be a Diamond Blog Hop and Giveaway

Welcome to Creatin' in the Sticks
and
my day in the
Be a Diamond Blog Hop.

Carol at Just Let Me Quilt is hosting this blog hop
and
the posts have just been incredible.

I never thought about how diamonds in quilts can be so different
and add so much movement in a quilt.

My quilt is called
Stripe Me a Diamond.

It's string pieced on a foundation and then the diamond shape is paper pieced.

I started by drawing my own diamond paper pieced quilt block in Electric Quilt.

by Thermoweb
made paper piecing the diamonds
a piece of cake.
They are sturdy and see-through, yet easy to tear away.
They don't fall apart if you have to correct a mistake.
Ask me how I know...

You print the quilt block directly on the quilt block sheet and get right to stitching.

I made 64 blocks and played with the layout.

I wish I had taken a picture of my husband and son helping me remove all the quilt block sheets from the blocks. What would we do without help sometimes?

Ultimately deciding on an ombre look for sashing and borders.

Stripe Me a Diamond is 66" x 66"
and
is a stash busting quilt.

I quilted it on the Handiquilter with dragonflies and loops with the pro stitcher.

Be sure to visit all the diamonds of the day:

 Today - April 26

And here is a behind the scenes picture of my hubby helping me after a long day at work...

Again, what would we do without help?
I'm so lucky.

All About Strings Blog Hop - Last Day, My Day, and Giveaway - Wavy Strings

Welcome
to
the final day of the
All About Strings Blog Hop.

I'm sad to see this hop end.
My vision became a reality thanks to everyone who played along.

It has been so fun to see string
quilts and sewing projects
take center stage for one week
and
to all that participated or commented -

Thank you so much!

The projects have all been fantastic and the posts have had so many
tips and new ideas!!

Today is my day to show a new favorite quilt.

Wavy Strings

I just love making blocks with strings, it feels therapeutic.
I actually made more blocks than are shown here, but time wasn't on my side.

So it's a smaller quilt than planned - 48" square, but still, love
and
I have a good start on another one.

I will draw the pattern up with the next one and will share all the details then.
This one was a bit bulky and needs some perfecting.

I used a muslin foundation to stitch the strings and then a stitch and flip method for
the top and bottom of the blocks.

Rainbow is my favorite colorway and I love scrappy quilts.

I quilted it with straight lines in Aurfil 40 wt. long arm quilting thread in white.

Part of the fun for me is the pictures.
This one shows a big Dodge City water tower in the background.

All week I've invited bloggers to inspire us with string sewing projects and quilts.
It's been incredible!

I'm excited to introduce today's line-up of bloggers.
