Pink Ribbons Quilt - Tickled Pink Blog Hop

Welcome to Creatin' in the Sticks
and
my day - the final day for the Tickled Pink Blog Hop.

To all that participated or commented -
Thank you so much!

My head is swimming with all kinds of love
and I can't wait to try some new pink projects.

But first, it's my day to show my
Pink Ribbons Quilt.

When the idea for this hop came along, my first thought was that I needed to use up some of the pink scraps in my ever-growing stash.
With a Granddaughter, it seems I've accumulated a lot of pink fabric.
Trouble is, she really would rather have blue now that she is a little older.

My daughter brought her over and we had a great time making her first Valentine box.
It was all made by her with a purchased heart box and stickers.
Grampy cut the hole in the top
 and
her mommy wrote her name in glue.
Elizabeth was all about adding the glitter to the glue!

My daughter and granddaughter showed off the masterpiece Valentine box.

My kitchen is in the middle of a remodel - what a mess!
But we had fun!
You could say we were
"Tickled Pink"

I needed a simple project as you can see - with my house in a crazy mess.
It started with simple blocks and the idea was to have ribbons of pink,
but I hated it once I started stitching the ribbons together.

So I pieced a heart together with pink fabrics and bordered it with the pink ribbon blocks
and now
I love it.

I enjoy hosting blog hop events so much!

Scrappy Teddy Bear Quilt - Polar Bear Plunge Blog Hop

 Welcome to
Creatin' in the Sticks!

Today is the first day of the first blog hop of 2022!

I'm excited to kick off the
Polar Bear Plunge Blog Hop
where bloggers are sharing favorite "chilly" projects.

To get the blog hop started,
I present my
Scrappy Teddy Bear Quilt

Joan at MooseStash Quilting presented bloggers with the challenge to make something
inspired by
bears, blue, or anything cold.
Thank you, Joan, for inviting me to join this super fun blog hop!

The timing of this blog hop couldn't be better.

My Scrappy Teddy Bear Quilt is for my new grandson
and
his room is all bears.

I took advantage of the hop and made him a minky backed throw
(perfect for tummy time)
and
used up a bunch of 2 1/2 inch squares from my stash, too!
win-win!

I went old-school to design the quilt and drew it out on graph paper.
(my favorite way to design!)

I added another border and quilted it fast with meandering.
It's about 38" x 48"

Hello Buttercup - Dust Off a Quilt Book Blog Hop

Today is my stop in the
Dust Off a Quilt Book
Blog Hop
Hosted by Bea at Beaquilter.

So, Hello Buttercup.

The idea for the hop is to find an old quilt book on your shelf and make something from it.

Here is my lovely:

Quilts, Quilts, and More Quilts by Diana McClun and Laura Nownes
copyright 1993

To be honest, I don't know how I came about owning this book, but it was in a stack and it just called to me.  Especially this page:

I decided to change the layout of the blocks and make it my own by using up as many scraps as I could to make a baby quilt.

It's about 42" x 52" and has a fun fleece tie-dye design backing.

Here is the schedule of those showing off their old quilt book projects:

Valentine Snuggle Quilt

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today, I’m happy to be back over on the
 to share my
Valentine Snuggle Quilt

Combining patchwork with applique is one of my favorite ways to make quilts.
When it came time to put the blocks together, I took advantage of the bright colors of the
Michael Miller Fabrics Garden Pindot collection and made framed blocks.

Did you enjoy the
Thermoweb Valentine Sew-along?

Nothing makes fusible applique easier than

Have a loving day.

AccuQuilt Ready. Set. GO! Challenge Baby Quilt - Chunky Twists

The April challenge for the Island Batik Ambassadors is
Baby Quilt.
Today is my day to show
Chunky Twists

As Island Batik Ambassadors,
this month is our first industry partner spotlight challenge.
The challenge is to use AccuQuilt dies to create a 40" - 48" baby quilt
using any pattern.

AccuQuilt generously provided the Island Batik Ambassodors with an

I chose a mixture of Island Batik stash builder fabrics and yardage.

The stash builder strips are 5" wide and perfect for the AccuQuilt dies.
I chose to use the Two by Two quilt block in the

The AccuQuilt was so much fun to use to cut the rectangles.
I even made a video to show how fast the rectangles were cut.
If you want, you can see it by clicking HERE

Baby quilts don't have to be pastel, I chose the colors of the rainbow.
I only used one die, the 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle, #8 in the
GO! Qube Mix and Match 8" Block.

This quilt was so quick to make and the top was ready in one afternoon.
The cutting was so accurate, the seams met perfectly and everything was so perfectly square.

Hobbs Heirloom Premium cotton batting really makes the straight and diagonal lined quilting pop.
Chunky Twists is finished with an Island Batik foundation Basic fabric - Vino for the binding
and finishes at 40" square.

You can find the full list of Island Batik ambassadors posting for the
Baby Quilt challenge
by clicking HERE.

It's amazing how modern tools can help us to create.
This is the beginning of lots of fun and accurate cutting.

Revisits for Unbelievable Cuteness

How life can change in one year.

I posted this tutorial last year
over on the Thermoweb Blog
before I knew I was going to be a Grammy.

Yesterday, my sweet Grandbaby modeled the outfit for the first time...

She just makes the outfit so much cuter and I'm so glad I kept it for her.
This is her first photo sitting up on her own, too.
She is sitting on a blanket my mom (Great Grammy) made for her.
I just can't believe this could be any cuter.

This was another tutorial from this year over on the
I usually practice on one before I make the full tutorial.

She makes my practice perfect.

And one more...

This one was back in April this year for

She was able to wear this one once before
the dress was shipped away to be used for a background piece
for a top-secret project...  (shhh)

LOL
I don't think she was happy with me that day,
but maybe when the dress comes back it will fit her better and she will smile.

I've learned to make things a bit larger so she can wear them longer.
I learned my lesson with these.

She only wore them once...

This is truly one of life's blessings,
this grandparent thing.
