One Scary Pumpkin - Gremlins, Goblins, and Ghouls Oh My! Blog Hop

 Welcome
to the Sticks
and
 the second day of the
Gremlins, Goblins, and Ghouls Oh My! Blog Hop.

I've created One Scary Pumpkin

or 2 or 3...

Joan at MooseStash Quilting invited bloggers to dust off their brooms and come out and "fly"!
Or share some great Halloween-inspired projects.
Thanks, Joan, for inviting me!

I have way too many Halloween scraps - I tend to purchase more every year.

So, I broke out all the Halloween Fabrics and put together twenty 10" blocks
with random-sized scraps.

Then I stitched and flipped the four corners of the pumpkin, added some borders, and appliqued a stem and a leaf.

I had planned to make this quilt larger, but as usual, my time ran out.
I had made more blocks than I used in the quilt, so I cut some pumpkin sections out of the blocks.
I don't want any more orphan blocks than are necessary...

Now I have 2 spooky accent pumpkins to go with the quilt.

And a whole lot fewer Halloween fabric scraps.

Check out the others that are breaking out their brooms today:

Creatin’ in the Sticks (ME)

Joan has the rest of the schedule HERE
and
a Pinterest Page HERE.

We have 2 more blog hops to go this year:

I am hosting the Music Blog Hop next month

and Carol is hosting her annual
Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange in December.

Email Carol if you would like to join:

About those blog hops Carol, Joan, and I host...we're changing it up a bit!
We've decided to call it Sew It - Show It.

We've been challenging our blogger friends each month and they never disappoint.
With a new name, Sew It-Show It, we'll be looking for twenty bloggers each month
who want to meet our challenges and share their creations.

It won't be much different than our previous blog hops, but we've found that it's hard
for some people to visit so many blogs in one day. So...it will be just four days with five
bloggers each day. That means (sadly) that we won't have unlimited openings anymore.
But, we may have a few more surprises.
It all begins in January and I will be hosting the first Sew It-Show It in 2023.
If you are reading this, think of shades of blue for January.

I'll be posting about it after the
Gremlins, Goblins, and Ghouls Oh My! Blog Hop
is over so watch for it here at Creatin' in the Sticks.

Did you know that Carol, Joan, and I host a block of the month every year on Facebook?
We are seriously working our fingers to the bone right now
and
we couldn't be more excited!!!!
We'd love to have you join us on our Cackling Stitches Facebook page!
The group shares Halloween Love all year long.

Whew!
That is a lot of information!

I'll just be on my way now...

have a Happy Halloween!

I'm Watching You over at Thermoweb and more Halloween Goodies

Don't ya just love decorating for Halloween?

I've been having so much fun.

Just imagine an eyeball door hanger on every knob in the house.

 Wouldn't that be a hoot?

I'm on the Thermoweb blog today to show you how to make an eyeball or two.

The sheen in the eye is so easy to do with HeatnBond Liquid Vinyl

You will think someone is watching you everywhere you go...

The pattern is free over on the Thermoweb blog.

Next week there will be lots of Halloween inspiration as we hop around in the

Gremlins, Goblins, and Ghouls Oh My Blog Hop.
Joan has the full schedule over at MooseStashQuilting.

Don't ya just love this time of year?

11 Checks - UFO Blog Hop

Welcome to the second day of the

UFO Blog Hop!

I'm always saying,  "Check that off the list!"
Today I have 11 checks thanks to Joan at MooseStash Quilting.

Joan at MooseStash Quilting presented bloggers with the challenge to make something
inspired by UFOs.  Are we talking Unfinished Objects or are we talking Aliens?
Joan said it was completely up to us.
Thank you, Joan, for inviting me to join this super fun blog hop I needed this one!

I chose to tackle a big pile of unfinished objects.

The pile of quilts has been in a corner forever!
I really didn't know what they needed.  I knew 2 needed to be trimmed and binding added.
A few needed a little repair here and there.
Some (4) had the binding added with HeatnBond Lite because of deadlines (don't judge)
 and needed the binding stitched.
Now all those quilts are really
FINISHED!!!!!!
All 10!  All Finished!

The dinosaur had been cut out in February one day when I had a little helper.
Only 5 months ago - that's not so bad.

It certainly wasn't the easiest thing to sew, but it is finished
and now this dinosaur is ready to be loved.

The first person to say they want this book can have it!
I'll never stitch another one of these.
Seriously!
I won't make you fight over it, but mention you want it and I'll do an impromptu giveaway.

Check out all the other UFO's this week for lots of inspiration!
Here is the schedule:

It feels so good to wrap these UFOs up!
There is a happy corner in my sewing studio.

Cuddle Fabric Flowers

The flowers are in full bloom!

I'm over on the Thermoweb blog with a free pattern to craft a

You can't make just one!  They are just too cozy and soft and full of color.
They will definitely bring smiles.
They are perfect to make with scraps from cuddle fabric quilt backings, too!

Here is what I used to make them:

and lots of little scraps of cuddle and fleece fabrics.

Don't let those cuddle fabrics intimidate you.
I have lots of tips over on the Thermoweb Blog to make stitching them a breeze.
The free pattern is over there too.

My Granddaughter is going to love these.
I can't wait to share them with her.

Ghastly Ghouls - A Pterodactyl Halloween

Welcome to the first day of the

Gastly Ghouls Blog Hop!

I'm happy to kick things off with
A Pterodactyl Halloween

Carol at Just Let Me Quilt presented bloggers with the challenge to make something spooky, kooky, or anything wickedly Halloween.  Of course, I was in.  This is right up my alley.

Thank you, Carol, for inviting me to join this super fun blog hop!

I'm keeping up with my tradition with this one.

I have 1 very special girl (my daughter) that loves Halloween
and her daughter loves it too!

So I started a tradition to make a little doll to look like
my Granddaughter in her Halloween costume every year.
She has the last 3 years of Halloween Friends and loves them.

When I texted my daughter to ask what my Granddaughter was dressing up as this year for Halloween,
this is the picture I received:

Well, that was a surprise, but I put on my Grammie panties and got to work. lol

I designed it by tweaking an original doll design.

Lizzy put on her costume for a little Boo at the Zoo action.
Perfect timing for the hop!
So I gave her the new Halloween Friend.
I think she likes it!

I have yet to make a bag to keep all of the Halloween Friends.
That has to be a priority for next year, but for now, she plays with them year-round.

Want some more Ghastly Ghouls stitching inspiration?

Here is the complete schedule:

It's so fun to get inspiration from Blog Hops.
This is my favorite time of year for stitching.

I think Lizzy likes it too!

Is It Red or Is It Orange? - Orange You Glad Blog Hop

Welcome to Creatin' in the Sticks
and
my day - the final day for the Orange You Glad Blog Hop.

To all that participated or commented -
Thank you so much!
I enjoy hosting blog hop events so much.

My head is swimming with all kinds of ideas
and I can't wait to get to playing with orange!
But first, it's my day to show my
Red and Orange Turtles
and
do a little color play.

When the idea for this hop came along, my first thought was that I needed to use up some of the orange scraps in my ever-growing stash.

Then one day, I remembered a long argument...

You see, my mom had this turtle (she may still have it)
It was a little handcrafted bobblehead turtle that was so cute.
Similar to these...

I made a comment about how cute her little orange turtle was
and
she said, "It's RED!"

Isn't funny how somethings look orange at one time and then look red at others.
It's all about the environment for some reds and oranges.

These turtles share a couple of fabrics - it's all about what you put the fabrics with.

The English paper pieced pattern for the turtle
is
free from Abby Glassenberg - Tilly the Turtle

They are about 6".

I own Abby's Puzzle Ball Animals Book - I have it in my list to make a couple.

Can you spot the same fabrics in both the red and the orange paper pieces?
Color is so interesting.

We are celebrating the color orange!

I'm sharing my day with these bloggers:

This blog hop is for everyone!
Have fun visiting each blog and making new friends.

They have worked hard to show us some new ideas, so be sure to thank them with
a sweet comment!
