Child's Play - Paw vs Pole

The September Challenge for the Island Batik Ambassadors is
Child's Play
and
today I'm excited to share
Paw vs Pole.

As Island Batik Ambassadors,
we were to create a juvenile-inspired project quilt
that were included in the ambassador boxes we received in July.

The challenge, for me, was to make the blocks into a child's quilt.
That's when I sat down with Electric Quilt to play with the design.

I chose to add a quilt block I designed called
and
with the
Bear's Paw blocks from the Accuquilt die
Paw vs Pole was born.

Would it be easier for a bear to catch a fish if he had a pole?

What I love most about using the Accuquilt GO! Bear's Paw block die was the ease of cutting the pieces and especially the triangles for the half-square triangles.  I was even able to cut the background squares and triangles for the "Lunchtime" applique block.  The piecing was so fast.

I just chain pieced all of the half-square triangles at once
and
then chain pressed with my pink Oliso Pro iron.

The Bear's Paws were made with an Island Batik fabric from the  "French Blue" collection by Kathy Engle. The background and borders are all Island Batik Foundations.

The applique bear was made with my Island Batik stash fabrics
and
my favorite fabric adhesive with no tracing, HeatnBond EZ Print Lite.

The appliques were stitched with Aurifil 50 wt. thread # 2784

I quilted Paw vs Pole on my Handyquilter with Glide thread in white.

I think this quilt is perfect for a little fisherman.

I really enjoyed trying a different border effect with this quilt
and
certainly loved the ease of the cutting with the

Stitch It and Gift It Blog Hop Announcement

Let's start the season of giving with a blog hop
celebrating the art of sewing and quilting.

We have had so much fun hopping!

It's like old times, like a reunion, seeing old friends and being blown away by the stitching.

We are trying to keep the blog hops simple and easy to participate
which makes it nice for everyone...
us included.

I can't believe how creative these blog hops have been and can't wait to see where everyone takes this one.

Today I am happy to announce a blog hop with the spirit of giving.

Stitch It and Gift It blog hop.

I am always moved by the giving hearts of so many quilters
and
love reading the stories behind the gifts.

SO

Stitch a gift for someone and tell us the story.

Maybe it's a donation quilt, a quilt of valor for a veteran, a mug rug for a friend, a kennel quilt for a pet, a doll for a granddaughter (wink), a trash basket for a family member (another wink), or maybe it's the gift of teaching someone to sew.

Anything will do.  It's your interpretation of
Stitch It and Give It.

The blog hop rules:
sorry, there has to be a little organization...

Post your project on your assigned day.

Have a giveaway or don't have a giveaway. It's totally optional!

Visit everyone's blog on the list and leave a sweet comment.

Are you in?

Send me an email with the following information:
Your first name
Your email address
Your blog name
Your blog URL

Subject Line:  Stitch It

PLEASE, email me the info.
I know most of you, but if you don't send the info, I have to look all your information up.

If you have emailed me and don't hear from me within a few days, please email me again or contact me on Facebook.  Sometimes Hotmail eats my homework...lol

Remember, this is for fun.
Let's play.

My Favorite Quilt Block Blog Hop - Last Day, My Day, and Giveaway - Hourglass

Welcome
to
the final day of the
My Favorite Quilt Block Blog Hop.

I'm sad to see this hop end.
My vision became a reality thanks to everyone who played along.

It has been so fun to see all the
favorite quilt blocks
take center stage for one week
and
to all that participated or commented -
Thank you so much!

The projects have all been fantastic and the posts have been so inspiring.
I can't wait to start on my next idea from the hop.

But first, it's my day to show my favorite quilt block.

The quarter square triangle aka - Hourglass quilt block

Is this a block or a component of a block?
Either way it's my favorite (today) and fun with 2 colors or 4.
This time I used 4 different colors per block with the new
Petal Pushers collection by Island Batik.

I mixed the quarter square triangle blocks with squares of the fabrics to make the quilt.

The quilting was on my long arm with Glide thread (color - Raven) and Hobbs cotton batting.

I made a tutorial to make Hourglass blocks back in 2016.
I made the hourglass blocks a little larger for this quilt.

Part of the fun for me is the pictures.
This one is on the dock that my hubby built.

I invited quilt bloggers to
"Show your favorite quilt block"
Show it, explain why you love it, and make it a project.

What a treat to hop
 around all week and see
some new quilt blocks, some old quilt blocks,
and some fresh quilty ideas to inspire us.

I'm excited to introduce today's line-up of bloggers.

Stitch a Patchwork Jack Wreath with HeatNBond Interfacing

While the
My Favorite Quilt Block Blog Hop is continuing,
I want to squeeze in a post to share my tutorial for Thermoweb today.

Scroll down for today's post for the hop to enter the giveaway today.

I just love making Halloween decor projects.  It's the one time of year that you can just go wild with decorations.
Here is one of my favorites.

I've made this wreath without the eyes for fall, but it's just a hoot to add the eyes with HeatNBond Lite to make a patchwork pumpkin Jack-O-Lantern.

Today I am over on the
with a free tutorial to make a
Patchwork Jack Wreath.

It only takes a few supplies including
and
HEATNBond® Lite iron-on adhesive.

Wouldn't it be fun to make pumpkin seeds coming out of his mouth?
I should have done that.

It's time to start bringing out the Halloween Decor
or
making something new.
This is just the project to get you started.

Be sure to go to the
and
grab this free pattern.
