Plush Bunny Ears Applique

It's fun to make projects when our wee one is visiting.

Have you tried HeatnBond Soft Stretch Fusible Web Adhesive yet?  It’s a lightweight iron-on web adhesive specially designed to move with your stretch fabric while maintaining a strong bond.  HeatnBond Soft Stretch Fusible Web Adhesive is perfect if you are appliqueing on a tee or knit fabrics. Better yet, these bunny ears can be appliqued with stretchy plush, Minky fabric and still be super soft.

The free pattern to make your own appliqued t-shirt is over at
Thermoweb today.

I think if you stitched some whiskers on the heart nose
it would be even cuter.
I wish I would have thought about that before I turned the project in.

Look how she has grown in 2 years...

Have a happy Easter at home!

What does the Sheep Say?

It's animal week over on the Thermoweb blog
and
I'm happy to be sharing a sweet and soft applique sheep pattern.

Here's my sweet inspiration for the outfit.

She has quite a few of the animals figured out.
It may be her love of all furry creatures.

She's going to love this outfit I whipped up in about an hour

It's a NO SEW project with soft fleece and a purchased tee and pants.

The complete tutorial and free pattern can be found on the Thermoweb blog today.

I really wanted to make a black sheep because she loves the song,
but then the Grammie in me just couldn't have her feeling like the
black sheep of the family... lol

Revisits for Unbelievable Cuteness

How life can change in one year.

I posted this tutorial last year
over on the Thermoweb Blog
before I knew I was going to be a Grammy.

Yesterday, my sweet Grandbaby modeled the outfit for the first time...

She just makes the outfit so much cuter and I'm so glad I kept it for her.
This is her first photo sitting up on her own, too.
She is sitting on a blanket my mom (Great Grammy) made for her.
I just can't believe this could be any cuter.

This was another tutorial from this year over on the
I usually practice on one before I make the full tutorial.

She makes my practice perfect.

And one more...

This one was back in April this year for

She was able to wear this one once before
the dress was shipped away to be used for a background piece
for a top-secret project...  (shhh)

LOL
I don't think she was happy with me that day,
but maybe when the dress comes back it will fit her better and she will smile.

I've learned to make things a bit larger so she can wear them longer.
I learned my lesson with these.

She only wore them once...

This is truly one of life's blessings,
this grandparent thing.

Quick and Easy Essentials Wristlet Clutch Tutorial with HeatnBond Interfacing

It's Fashion Friday again
and
this wristlet clutch is the perfect size to carry all a girl's essentials.

I’m thrilled to be over at Thermoweb today to show how to make this little-zippered clutch that will make a great gift for anyone.

I made this one with Windham Fabric’s Hand Picked and HeatnBond fusible interfacing – medium weight, for an end of year gift for my favorite teacher.
It takes no time at all to make this Easy HeatnBond Essentials Wristlet Clutch.  By using an oversized zipper, stitching the zippered bag is a piece of cake.

Please jump on over to the Thermoweb blog and check it out.

It's Fashion Friday

I have to take a little pause in the 30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days Blog Hop and Quilt Along
for
Fashion Friday
over at Thermoweb.

I must tell you when I saw this sweet novelty cotton knit fabric, I couldn’t wait to sew a little outfit.

Knits can be tricky, especially the less expensive ones, but with the help of HeatNBond Soft Stretch Lite adhesive, the task of sewing stretchy fabrics is easy.

A little t-shirt was transformed into a sweet little dress in an afternoon.

You will find my free tutorial for this t-shirt dress over on the Thermoweb Blog today.

My little Granddaughter will soon be showing off a lot of these little dresses...

You're One Cute Chick - Split Skirt Onesie Tutorial with Deco Foil

One thing I've learned by sewing for this sweet baby is
comfort is not only the number one priority in her clothing,
but she won't tolerate anything but comfort.

She makes everything "over the top'"cute, so there's no need for lace and frills
and this grammy has such a pretty model for all the little projects!

She's growing fast and has a lack of appreciation for uncomfortable dress-up clothes.
This is what led me to create a tutorial for a split skirt onesie over on the Thermoweb blog.

Now she can wear a dress and not even know she is.
She has lots of kicking room, which is her favorite past-time.

The onesie is not only super simple to make into a dress,
but is a great COMFORTABLE Easter outfit or would make a great gift.

Add a little bling with Deco Foil and make that onesie sparkle.

The complete tutorial is over on Thermoweb today
and
they are having a giveaway
where you can win, not only the Hello Jane fabric by Windham Fabrics that I used for the split skirt but all kinds of HeatnBond goodies.

Are you stitching up things for Easter?

We are so eggcited for her first one.

She's one cute chick!

Small, Smaller, Smallest Blog Hop

The challenge:
said, "Make something small"
and
show everyone what you made.

So I made a small quilt

using my latest quilt block pattern, Deer Meadow.
It's block #2 of the

I made the applique quilt block center and added scrappy 6 1/2" blocks for the border.
This is the first time I have backed a quilt with minky fabric and I love it!!
I quilted it with flowers on the Handi Quilter.
The quilt is 36" square and is a small project for me.

Then I made a smaller project,
a little dress (0-3 months) using 1 1/2" patchwork in the bodice that matches the small quilt.

The pattern is Catherine by Violette Field Threads and was fun to make.
I just made my patchwork and cut the pattern for the bodice and sleeve cuffs.

Now for some people, 1 1/2" patchwork isn't that small,
so I decided on a project that is the smallest.

Tiny Mary Janes.

I marked an 1" grid on HeatnBond Light weight interfacing.

I cut out a billion lot of 1" pieces to match the quilt and the dress
and fused them to the interfacing.

Then I folded and sewed the seams on the interfacing to make 1/2" finished patchwork
to make the smallest baby booties (0-3 months)
for my sweet, new granddaughter.

They are almost too small, but they will make great Christmas tree ornaments.  lol
The pattern for the baby shoes is in the book, "making children's clothes" by Emma Hardy.
If you make these, I highly recommend making the larger size (3-9 months).

It was my idea to make the shoes patchwork

which made the smallest project one of the longest projects.

Thank you, Carol for hosting this fun little hop.

Small, Smaller, Smallest.

This is the smallest love of my life.

and I love making small little gifts for her.

p.s. I hope my direct sunlight photos didn't blind you...
Lesson learned.

This little outfit is a mix of stretchy knit and soft cotton fabric

I'm over at Thermoweb today with tips and tricks to make it easy.

Applique isn't just for quilts.
Use your Aurifil 50 wt. thread (#2024) to stitch the dress and appliques
and
this little dressy outfit will sew up in no time.
It will make any little girl feel like a snow princess
with Blend Fabric's Snowflake Waltz.
