Mommy Bunny, Baby, and Furniture Going Home

It's a finish before the last day of the month for A Lovely Year of Finishes over at Fiber of All Sorts.

One little bunny is jumping on the bed....  This is Mommy and baby bunny.

The goal for June was to make this house a home.  The post about the house is HERE.  Daddy is lonely and is waiting for his family.

Mommy and baby will be joining daddy after they get the furniture all packed and ready to make the trip across Kansas to Joplin, MO.

I had so much fun with this project and I'm so excited because I have been commissioned to make another one.  My deadline is September so I have already started gathering supplies.

These bunnies will have so much fun with little Kennedy,

A Lovely Year of Finishes June Goal - Make a house a home

I can't believe it's June already and time to set the goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes over at Fiber of All Sorts.  Where is the year going?

I'm going to try to make the Bunny House a home and finish the furniture and bunnies for sweet, little Kennedy.  The original post about the house is HERE.

An empty house :(

"I'm so lonely and the floor is not so comfy to sit or lay on."

Maybe I can finish this goal before 10 pm on June 30th.  HA  The house and bunny are now located in Missouri and  I'll have to send the rest of the bunny family and their furniture to Joplin. Hopefully there will be a photographer there to send pictures of the finished look.  I'm kinda having fun with this....

In other news, look what came in the mail this week.

All this and thread too!

Is it my birthday? no  I only won the best prize ever over at Sew We Quilt.  Thank you Madame Samm, you are the best cheerleader of the best blog hops!  The fabric is lovely, but you spoiled me extra good with the surprises!  (was that good grammar?)  Happy DAY!

Update:  Finish Post Here.

Have a great week,

May Goal - Check...but not without difficulties, A Lovely Year of Finishes

Just a quick post so I can add this to the finish party over at A Lovely Year Of Finishes.  I fought the Janome and thread all day and they very nearly won.  If not for obligations, this one would have been a UFO for a long, long time.

It's always the ones you think you'll breeze through that make you feel like you should find a new hobby.  I'll give details later.  For now, she's DONE.

Posting this with a couple hours to spare.  HA!  Take that sewing machine!  I did it in spite of you.

Update:  After the trauma, I did a proper post HERE

A Lovely Year of Finishes May Goal

SOS.  I need spring to arrive and stay...  We woke up this morning to this:

Snow on May 2, 2013  What a spring...

The snow is gone now, but it is cold!  The blasted weather man said last week's winter chill was the last of the season.  He LIED.  I should have been a weather man.  Seems like they get paid even when they get it wrong.....

Moving on (sorry), my goal for May in A Lovely Year of Finishes is to finish a lap quilt to send to Happy Chemo, an organization that provides quilts and comfort for chemo patients.

Blocks for May Goal

I have a couple of blocks finished.  I am using a batik charm pack (Love Letters) by MODA to make a very calming quilt.  I want to provide a more masculine quilt as I'm sure they have plenty of quilts for women and children.

This weekend my goal is to make a block for Quilts for Boston.  The Boston Modern Quilt Guild will be putting quilts together to support those in need.  If you are interested in helping, just click on this button for more info.

A Lovely Year of Finishes - April Goal Done!

Just a quick post for A Lovely Year of Finishes over at Fiber of All Sorts.  I just finished my April goal with 23 hours to spare.  My 2012 Craftsy BOM class quilt is FINISHED!

Craftsy BOM 2012
She deserves a proper name and post.  That will come in a few days.  I just wanted to post for the finish.  I've just finished a quilting marathon and now on to a crazy work week.  I have so much to share about this quilt so I'll post it soon.

Love

She's ready for snuggling..

Progress for April and Paying it forward

I've made progress on the April goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes 2013.  The Craftsy BOM 2012 is almost a complete top.  I need to add borders and then on to basting and quilting.

The intention for this day was to build borders for the Craftsy quilt top and to work on my donation quilt for the Hands2Help Project until I was distracted by interested in this blog post over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  Sarah is such a giving inspiration and in her ministry "Piece*Love*Quilt" her group makes quilts to give to people in need.  Fabric, quilt tops, and anything to help make the quilts is needed, so I went to work to find a few things to donate.  I will send them and include this quilt block, I made today, to be included in "The Helping Hands Project".

The fabric is leftover from the Craftsy quilt and I have more to donate. So many of my online sewing friends are givers.  It's incredible what loving hearts quilters have.

Thank you Sarah at  "Confessions of a Fabric Addict" for all your inspiration,

Craftsy BOM 2012

It is time to tackle my Craftsy Block of the Month class from 2012.  The blocks ( 20 of them) are all finished and sitting in a box.  My April goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes is to finish this UFO.

The class was a  great experience for me with Amy Gibson as the instructor.  I even signed up for the Craftsy Class, Free Motion Quilting a Sampler by Leah Day to fmq this particular quilt.   It is time to finish.

A Lovely Year of Finishes, March Finish, T - Shirt Quilt

I am participating in A Lovely Year of Finishes over at Fiber of All Sorts and Sew BitterSweet Designs and this is my March goal, complete. It's the last day and of course I just finished.

It's been a weekend of basketball and binding. How about them Shockers? With the KU Jayhawks loss and the Wichita State win, all the basketball fans in Kansas have become Shocker fans. WU WU! Fear the Wheat..

picture borrowed from http://www.wibwnewsnow.com/shocking-the-world-wichita-state-makes-ncaa-final-four/

If you haven't been watching, Wichita State beat Ohio State to make it to the final 4 in the NCAA Basketball Tournament.  Everyone, except the Wichita State Fans like us, are "Shocked" about the win. lol The finals will be in Atlanta next weekend.  :^)

SO, while I watched a little basketball, I finished hand sewing the binding on this March finish.

This t-shirt quilt is for a client whose daughter is graduating in May. I'm so happy to have it finished in plenty of time.  It's a full size quilt at 72" x 88".

SHORTS!  I hope my legs aren't blinding you...

Happy Easter,

A Lovely Year of Finishes March Goal

I am participating in A Lovely Year of Finishes over at Fiber of All Sorts.  Every month is started with a goal and by the end of the month, hopefully I will post the finish.

t shirt blocks

lattice and corner stones

I am going to be ambitious this month and finish the t-shirt quilt I've been commissioned to make.  I have everything cut and pieced and ready to put together.  This quilt is for graduation and I would like to have it finished in time to start another one before the big event in May.  (I was asked yesterday if I would make another one.)

This means it will be quilted and the binding done.  Wish me luck.....

The snow is melting nicely today :^)

A Lovely Year of Finishes - February Goal Met

With a second snow storm in 4 days, I've managed to meet my February goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes hosted by Fiber of All Sorts.

Black and White Quilt Top
My goal was to gather these blocks from the UFO stash and finish a quilt top.  DONE!

I left a lot of negative space for lots of fun quilting.  The size of the top is 80" x 80".  I wanted a bed quilt.  This will be a fun one.

This pattern was fun.  I made it up as I went along.  If I hadn't ran out of fabric, it would be even larger.  With the snow and lack of a local quilt shop (by local, I mean closer than 60 miles) I had to use what I had.  I am very happy with it and can't wait to sandwich and quilt.....

I am SO READY for spring,
