Fall Quilt Market 2019 - My Little Contributions

I will admit, I am a little (lot) bummed I am not at quilt market
this weekend.
I went back and forth about whether to go or not.

The decision to stay was based on the fact that I would have to go by myself
and
that isn't really an option for me right now.

BUT, I do have a few items on display at market.

and
it's over in the Thermoweb booth #1848.

Go check out the new products.
I heard there is a NEW HeatnBond EZ Tee Stabilizer that’s perfect for Tee-shirt quilts!

Check out my
there too.

I spent one-day last month playing with a new fabric collection
by Jackie Kunkle for Island Batik called Ancient Etchings.
Island Batik asked me to make

Here she is at market, Booth #1920, with her friend Lloyd Llama made by another
Island Batik Ambassador,
Jennifer at Curlicue Creations.

.  Someone gave them pompom collars.
  So cute...

The Stu the Sea Turtle was made by Island Batik Ambassador, Vasudha Govindan of Storied Quilts, I believe.

More info on the other can be found on Canton Village Quilt Works Facebook post by clicking HERE.
The fabrics are available in shops in Jan/Feb 2020.

I do have one other item in Houston,
but I'll post more on that later.

Blend Fabrics Spring Quilt Market - Pillow and Round Zipper Boxes

When Blend Fabrics asked if I would make items for their booth for Spring Quilt Market,  I couldn’t have been more thrilled to help.

Now I am able to share the tutorials to make the Garden Pillow and Overnight Jewelry Boxes.

Anna Griffin has the pretties designs for Blend fabrics and if you have a garden at your home, her newest fabrics, Lila, are perfect for you

I was so happy to get to go to Quilt Market this year and see my items in the Blend Booth.

This pillow is a quilt as you go project with HeatNBond fusible fleece, therefore it has so much soft texture you’ll love lounging with it.

You can find the full tutorial to make this pillow over at Thermoweb.

Blend had originally asked me to make a few of the Round Boxes for market.
These are always perfect for pretty fabrics like the ones Anna Griffin designs.

These were made with a previous tutorial I did for Thermoweb.
I just didn't add the ruffle and I made a couple of different sizes.

It's so much more fun to create items for Quilt Market when you know you'll be able to go and see the projects in the booth.  I really hope this happens again.

Crossing my fingers...

Spring Quilt Market - Recap

I was so excited to attend my first International Quilt Market and have now fully recovered from the trip and catching up at my day job.

The spring quilt market was held in Kansas City this year which made it so easy for me to attend.
Add to that my friend Joyce just opened a quilt shop and was excited to check out market too.

International Quilt Market is a credentialed trade show and not open to the general public
although, most of the new fabrics and patterns seem to be shown on the internet before the market even starts so I don't really think anyone is missing out on the big reveals.

For me, quilt market was more about meeting internet friends and networking for future collaborations.

Before I set foot on the floor of the quilt market I met Tula Pink.
It didn't hurt that I had decided to wear my Moon Shine t-shirt that day.

I could have just dropped when she asked me if she could take an Instagram Street Spotting picture.
She was so sweet to let me take a picture too.
Her new fabric line Monkey Wrench made such a cute booth.

Our first day of International Quilt Market was Thursday and we attended the Schoolhouse Series.  It was a series of 15 - 30-minute presentations about what you could find in the booths in the upcoming days and educational classes about anything quilt related.
It really gave us a chance to see what to focus on at Quilt Market.

One of my favorite Schoolhouse presentations was Kim's, from Go-Go Kim, social media class.  She joined the Island Batik team for several presentations and it was fun to meet the faces behind the names of all my Island Batik friends.

Island Batik has a new spring line by Kathy Engle called Freedom that is perfect for
Quilts of Valor or any red, white, and blue quilt.
(I will have a quilt to show soon...)

Later that day we attended Sample Spree.  I have to admit that Sample Spree was not my favorite thing we did.  It's a chance for buyers to purchase individual items from manufacturers.   I'm not a buyer and I do not like crowds or to stand in line for long periods of time.  I probably won't do that event again.  Although I did get to visit with a lot of like-minded people while I stood in line, I would rather do that over a cup of coffee.  lol

Friday was the first day the show floor opened
and
it was soooo overwhelming for a newbie.

My first stop was the Blend Fabrics booth to see my projects.
Through a partnership with Thermoweb, I made a few things for the Blend Fabrics booth.

These projects were for Anna Griffin's Lila fabric collection, the patterns for these projects are coming soon over at Thermoweb.

Thermoweb frequently partners with other industry companies for events and shows.
Michael Miller Fabrics has been super generous to the Thermoweb fabric project designers
and
I just had to visit their booth.
Rob Appell with Michael Miller conducted lots of interviews and it was fun to watch.

It was fun to meet Crystal in person too!

She is the reason you will see a lot of my new projects for Thermoweb made with bright and fun Michael Miller Fabrics.

My first day of booth hopping finished with a visit to the Hobbs Batting booth and a visit with
Steph and fellow Island Batik Ambassador, Jennifer - The Inquiring Quilter.

It was such a pleasure to meet both of these ladies and
I can't wait to share my May Island Batik Ambassador quilt for the Make it Modern with Hobbs Batting challenge. I tried a technique that was suggested by Steph and it worked brilliantly.Stay tuned for the reveal later this week.

Day 2 of booth hopping was quick and fun with meeting and connecting with more friends.

First stop - Riley Blake Designs to meet Cindy and connect with an old friend, J Wecker Frisch of Joy Studio.  Janet is the designer of the fabric, Handmaids, from one of the first blog hops I hosted, She Who Sews.  We had so much fun catching up and maybe some fun in the future too.

Her booth was adorable.

Speaking of blog hops, I met another friend from years of blog hopping.

Doris from Cactus Queen Quilt Co. had a booth for her new endeavor, X-Blocks.

Another blog hop friend, Amanda of Amanda Murphy Design.

I finished my Quilt Market fun with a talk by Pat Sloan

and Quilt in a Day's, Eleanor Burns.

I heard more than once that this was a small quilt market but that the people attending were there to conduct business and it was a great success.

No matter what the outcome was for others, we had a blast and checked a lot of things off our lists.  It was fun to help my friend Joyce explore options for her quilt shop and I'm so excited to see the new things coming to

And that's my first Quilt Market experience in a nutshell.
I don't know how it could get any better.

Alphabet Letter Pillows for Spring Quilt Market

With Spring Quilt Market 2018 in the rear view, I can finally reveal these letter pillows
and
share the tutorial.

When Blend Fabrics asked if I would make alphabet pillows for their booth for Spring Quilt Market,  I couldn’t have been more thrilled to help.

The Blend fabrics are Maude Asbury’s Pen and Paper with whimsical ballpoint pens, paper airplanes, and colorful paperclips.

These letter cushions are made sturdy with HeatnBond High Loft Fusible Fleece
and

The tutorial to make your own letters is over at Thermoweb today.

Let me show you how to make bias strips for the sides of larger letters using HeatnBond interfacing to keep the letters in shape.

I've had so much fun making alphabet pillows.
They really make great gifts!

Have a happy week,

Big Top Circus Pillow Cover for Quilt Market -Blend Fabric Quilt as you Go Free Pattern

I was thrilled when Blend Fabrics asked if I would design a pillow cover to display at Quilt Market
and
now I can share it with you.

The fabrics are Calliope by designer, Maude Asbury.

Step right up to the big top with a circus tent full of balancing elephants, juggling seals and floating unicorns.

The curtains open and close.
To create this super fun pillow cover I used a quick quilt as you go method with
HeatnBond High Loft Fusible Fleece and then appliqued with  Heat N Bond Lite.

The full tutorial and FREE pattern is over on Thermoweb's blog today.

My grandma loved the circus and now that I’m going to be a gLamma, I can’t wait to share this pillow with the new baby.

Ruffled Flower Pillow Covers - Testing Your Own Pattern

Today I am revisiting a project from a couple of months ago.

These pillow covers were created for a tutorial for Thermoweb
and a
spring quilt market display for Anna Griffin Fabric.

The pattern has been very popular in my Craftsy shop, but I never dreamed how much my friends here at home would love them.

So, I hunted down more fabric on Esty from 2 great shops:

RebsFabStash and SewStitchingHappy

and
today I have completed 2 more pillow covers.

I had to follow my own pattern and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to understand.  As I write patterns, sometimes I'm not sure it makes sense or is coming across as I want it to.
If you want to make these pillow covers try out this pattern.
I tested it more than once and it's not bad.  lol

Sew yourself a ruffled flower pillow cover to dress up your front porch or, as my friend, give these as a gift for a bedding set.

They are super soft because you use
in the ruffle to create dimension and softness.
The ruffles in these large blooms are super simple with the technique in the pattern.

The full tutorial is on the ThermOWeb blog click - Here
and
You can download the PDF pattern from my Craftsy pattern store HERE.
or
click on this button.

Choose a couple of coordinating prints and sew up some pretty pillows!

Now I only have 2 more to make....
Have a happy weekend!

Little Zipper Round Box - Tutorial

Here is a quick and beautiful gift idea for Mother's Day.

A sweet little fabric box for her to take overnight for jewelry or it's the perfect size for needles and thread for the sewer on the go.

It keeps its shape with HeatnBond® Craft Extra Firm Non-Woven Interfacing

Sewing in the round can be intimidating, but in the tutorial over on the Thermoweb blog today, I will show the steps of preparing each piece beforehand, to make this little round box a fun and quick project.

Look at all the little spools of Aurifil thread it will hold...

These little boxes are off to quilt market for the Anna Griffin booth for Blend Fabrics
But you can make your own for yourself or your mom.
Please visit the Thermoweb blog to check out my newest tutorial.

I've had a pretty crazy month of pattern making and tutorial writing, but this one is the last for spring quilt market 2017.  These boxes and the Romantic Ruffle Pillow Covers were two of my favorite patterns to write so far.

You can download the PDF pattern from my Craftsy pattern store HERE.
or
click on this button.

Thank you for all the love I've received with your comments, shares, and pins.
It's been a great spring!!!
