30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days - Block 18

I'm making progress with my fabric scraps with these blocks.
The ones we've been making lately use smaller squares and that has really helped.
I can probably go through this challenge every month for awhile though.
How about you?

Block #18 reminds me of bowling for some reason.
Well, let's be honest, it's the 8 patches that made me think of my last bowling team.
It was called the

Yeah Eights
(we bowled a lot of 8's)

Size Unfinished: 10 1/2" x 10 1/2"

Finished Size: 10 x 10"

Cut 8 squares 3" x 3" - four blue / four white

Cut 2 rectangles 3" x 10 1/2" -  white

Stitch them together as laid out with 1/4" seams.

Stitch the squares in the middle together
then stitch the top and bottom rectangles to the middle unit.

By turning the blocks you get such an interesting affect for a quilt.

I'll call this quilt
Shattered Pins
for my bowling days.

This one also makes a fun full quilt.
