One Quilt for 30 Blocks in 30 Days Challenge - Framed Up Quilt Top

Have you been following along with the

Everyday a new super, simple quilt block is posted and

at the end of December we will have a quilt and hopefully a smaller scrap pile.

Keep in mind, these are super simple blocks but each one can make a beauty of a quilt.

Today I have a quilt top to share using block #5 and block #6.

I'm calling it "Framed Up."

It went together so quickly and I used up a lot of fabric scraps.

Each block is 10 1/2" square and I made

and

This was the quilt that was shown on the tutorial page using both blocks.

Finished Size:  58" x 68"

I changed the red fabrics to teal.
I just had more teal scraps than red and wanted to start on that pile first.

Once together, the border was constructed this way:

2 - white strips 2 1/2" x 60 1/2" stitched to the sides
2- white strips 2 1/2" x 54 1/2" stitched to the top and bottom
2 - purple strips 2 1/2" x 64 1/2" stitched to the sides
and finally
2 purple strips 2 1/2" x 58 1/2" to the top and bottom.

I had only planned to make one block each day
and
have one quilt finished at the end of the month.

Each post in the challenge shows at least one example to use the block
in a layout for a quilt
and
as I have been playing with the layouts with each block
it's apparent more than one quilt will come out of this challenge.

This is a very good thing.

If you don't have time this month to challenge yourself
in the
30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days Challenge,
no worries.

It will be up on my blog (in the tabs) for you when you are ready.

#7 tomorrow...

It ends midnight 12/9/17.

That turned out great!! I had hoped to jump on the 30 blocks in 30 days bandwagon. It SEEMS like a manageable goal, but I bet some days it's a real challenge!
