Special Moments

I've been absent this week for a very special reason.

Our family grew this week by one as we welcomed our first grandbaby.
My daughter is well and her little family is so sweet.

I'm enjoying a little time helping out.

Life is so sweet right now.

Blocks - A 30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days Finish

I've made a few quilt tops with the
but now I can show a finished quilt.

This is all 30 of the blocks in the quilt I'm calling Blocks.

The finished size is 65" x 75"

The layout:

All 30 blocks are in order starting in the upper left hand corner going down with 5 columns of 6 blocks.

The borders:

The quilt is framed by 3 borders.
The first border is a thin 1 1/2" unfinished white border.
The second border is made of 3" unfinished squares of colors and white.
The third border is constructed of 4 1/4" unfinished squares of all the colors in the quilt.

The quilting:

With all the squareness of this quilt I chose a circle quilting pattern
and let the Handi Quilter Pro Stitcher take care of the quilting.
(I'm still learning the program)

But this isn't the end of the 30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days Challenge!
I'm excited to announce I am hosting a blog hop!!

Minimal Mini Quilt -Flashback

is looking for
Minimal Mini Quilts for the magazine's next edition.

The call for entries is for minimal mini quilts.

Do you recognize the piecing of block number 27 from 30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days?
I just added half circles with 1/4" seam allowances.

I'm calling it "Flashback"
it reminds me of the center of a cassette tape.
It's 10" x 10".

The quilting echos the design with one side spaced with a different beat than the other.

The deadline for entries is January 10th
so I may have to try my original idea.
This one just seemed to happen....

Does that happen to you sometimes?
The direction just changes without a plan to?

I've never submitted anything for a magazine, but
I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone in 2018 and this certainly starts the year as planned.

You should jump in to the challenge too!

Sun, Sand, and Sea BOM 2017

Our Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month
has come to an end.

It's now time to put the quilt all together.

I put mine together with striped borders that crisscross in the blocks at the corners.

My finished quilt will be 53" x 65"
once I have it all quilted and bound.

The Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month was
hosted by Amy over at
and
I was one of her designer friends.

Thanks to Clothworks,
the blocks for this quilt were stitched with
solid fabrics.
The colors are so vibrant and nice to stitch with!
Perfect for the beach.

All of the blocks with the links for the patterns can be found by clicking HERE.

It's been a super fun block of the month!

I'll give this quilt a proper post once it's all finished.

If you are looking for a new BOM for 2018,
We are ready to introduce you to

starts in February.

In the mean time, join the Facebook group
to share your Sun, Sand, and Sea quilts
and
receive the latest details about the 2018 BOM.

Looking for more to start 2018?
My friend Carol is hosting a blog hop
and
there is still time to join (but don't wait too long).
Just click HERE for the details.

I have a quilt started for the hop using one of the quilt blocks from

Which is another challenge for 2018 for me.
I want to make at least one quilt from each block...

Happy New Year!!
