30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days - Block 2

I'm posting block 2 a little early because tomorrow is a big day here in the Sticks.

Tomorrow is the day to share cookie recipes

in the Just Let Me Quilt Virtual Cookie Exchange.

On to block #2

In honor of the cookie exchange, I'm calling this one

Double Stuffed

Size Unfinished: 10 1/2" x 10 1/2"

Finished Size: 10 x 10"

Cut 3 strips:

1 for the middle: 5 1/2" x 10 1/2"

2 for top and bottom:  3" x 10 1/2"

Stitch them together as laid out with 1/4" seams.

The second block of the 30 Day Quilt Block Challenge is finished.

Faster than the first?  Maybe, but why not.

You could make a bunch of these blocks by just cutting the strips the width of the fabric then stitching the strips together. 

Three or four (depending on the width of the fabric) 10 1/2" x 10 1/2" blocks could be cut out of a strip set.

Then you could make a super fast quilt.

Check out how great this block would be in a 4 x 4 grid with 3" borders.

Who says blocks need to be complicated?

30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days - Block 1

Let's start this Challenge with the most basic block:

The 4 patch.

Size Unfinished: 10 1/2" x 10 1/2"

Finished Size: 10 x 10"

Cut 4 squares 5 1/2"

Stitch them together as laid out with 1/4" seams.

The first block of the 30 Day Quilt Block Challenge is finished.

That was fast and easy, right?

This block can be the best when used in a quilt!

Make one or make a bunch and use them to make a whole quilt.

This would be a pretty quilt...

Tomorrow a new challenge begins here in the Sticks.

I've created quilt blocks that are fast to make, easy for a beginner, and perfect for fabric scrap busting.

This challenge became a reality when I joined Cheryl Sleboda's

31 Day Blog Writing Challenge

where  all you have to do is post once a day on your blog for 31 days!  

I realized while I have a lot of projects to post this month, I don't really have 31 days of information I think is blog worthy.

But the idea of the challenge is to build habits that will serve the blog well

as we head into 2018.

What better way to build good blogging habits than to design, stitch, and share a quilt.

Tomorrow I'll start posting quilt blocks for this scrap busting modern quilt.

The blocks are 10 1/2" and can be made with so many different methods.

I'll be sharing a few techniques along the way 

and

 maybe you will have a few to suggest too.

Join me in doing a little cleaning up of  leftover fabrics from 2017.

This quilt won't use them all, but every little bit helps.

My plan is to post all the blocks and have the quilt finished by the new year.

Sun, Sand, and Sea BOM - Block #11 - Hammock Time

Yesterday, the eleventh and final block of the 

Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month was revealed

and

Amy over at Sew Incredibly Crazy

has the link to her pattern to share.

Hammock Time is one of my favorite blocks of this BOM.

It just makes me think of a soft breeze and sunshine

 and

 now that the final block has been revealed,

 it's time to relax and put all the blocks together.

Holiday Quilt Block Series - Block #1 - Christmas Bell Ornament

Today I am excited to be kicking off the Thermoweb Holiday Quilt Block Series

 where 4 members of the Thermoweb design team will share holiday block designs 

over the next week.  

Every block can be stitched up in a day or two and you can sew along with us. 

 On Saturday, December 9th we will show different layouts to put the blocks all together so you can have it all finished by Christmas.
