Welcome to Creatin' in the Sticks
and
my day - the final day for the Music Blog Hop.
To all that participated or commented -
Thank you so much!
My head is swimming with all kinds of music
and
stitching ideas I can't wait to try.
But first, it's my day to show my
Violin Collage Quilt.
Dedicated to my daughter.
This was a year ago when she was about ready to have our grandson.
She can play about any instrument, but has a passion for her violin.
I love that I can still go to see her play.
I love to make collage quilts.
To start with a drawing and add fabrics to add shadows and highlights with the fabrics.
In the meantime adding little bits for character.
Here is the violin coming to life...
Close for quilting and a little more detail:
I've used this technique a lot!
I have a brief tutorial using a sugar skull HERE if you want to see more collage ideas.
Please check out the bloggers posting with me today:
Thursday, November 17th
You can find the rest of the schedule HERE.
This blog hop is for everyone!
Have fun visiting each blog and making new friends.
They have worked hard to show us some new ideas, so be sure to thank them with
a sweet comment!
You can check out the
to stay up to date, too.
We are making sweet stitching music together!

WOW! I love your violin and the little kitty at the top.
WOW from me too! That is amazing. I will have to check out your tutorial.
Wow. How beautiful is this quilt. I loved the colors and even more the detail of the little fox (or cat? lol). Well done.
Carla, your violin collage is extraordinary! I couldn’t stop examining it, it’s so beautiful! Your daughter must be head over heals loving it. I love seeing collage art quilts like this. Thanks for showing your process as well. I’m not likely to ever attempt one (well, maybe a really small one, ha!) but I know where to come for instruction and advice if needed! Best of Show here for me!
Your collage quilt is fantastic!!! I LOVE it!
Your collage is amazing! That's something I've always wanted to try, so thanks for showing how you did it.
This is just gorgeous.
Another fabulous job!
Carla, this quilt is spectacular! I really appreciate your photos showing the process--that helps us understand how it can all come together so beautifully! The photo of your daughter is cool--her concentration is evident. :) Thanks for a wonderful hop and for sharing the violin quilt!

Wow...that is absolutely gorgeous! And that quilting adds so much to it. One of these days I am going to have to give that a try. It looks like so much fun. How great is it that you can go see her play her violin yet!
You make that process look so simple and easy, but your violin is absolutely lovely and elegant! What a talent your daughter has, and how fun that you can go see her play!
Gorgeous violin collage quilt. Thanks for showing the process, and how exciting you get to see your daughter play! I plan to try a collage quilt after Christmas. Thanks so much for showing your technique, and thanks so much for another amazing blog hop!
Such a beautiful quilt, and a great tribute to your daughter. I see so many fun collage quilts, but I've not yet dared to try it. I will.... one day.
wow this is gorgeous. thanks for sharing. when our daughter played the alto saxophone, when wanted her instrument to look like this. but the teacher said she first needed to learn the instrument. then when she bought her own she could do anything she wanted. wise man. by the time she played exemplary, she wanted only a certain brand. she also loves the flute and an indian flute. our son plays the trombone. my husband plays the acoustic guitar and electric guitar and I used to play the piano and alto clarinet
This is gorgeous and really a work of art. Love it! That little kitty at the top is so sweet. I bought a kit to make a collage but have yet to do it. Maybe you should come show me how to do it.
