Black & White Blog Hop - My Day, Final Day, and Giveaway

Did you hear the one about the skunk, zebra, panda bear, and penguin?

I really don't have a joke here, just a welcome
to
the final day of the
Black & White Blog Hop.

I'm sad to see this hop end.
My vision became a reality thanks to everyone who played along.

It has been so fun to see black and white
quilts and sewing projects
take center stage for one week
and
to all that participated or commented -

Thank you so much!

The projects have all been fantastic and the posts have had so many
tips and new ideas!!

Today is my day to show the project that started this whole Black and White hop idea.

I've been procrastinating the finish of this quilt for quite a long time. (years)
It's a jelly roll quilt in which I stitched 5 strips together at a time,
cut squares from the strip sets, paired the squares,
and made 4 half square triangles from each pair.
Some of the strip set squares were paired with solid Kona white too.
The process made some interesting blocks.
I cut white squares and laid out my design.

It was time to finish this quilt, thus, the Black & White Blog hop was born.
The borders were added, 2 - Kona white and 1 is black with white music notes.
I quilted it with meandering music notes edge to edge on the long arm with
Aurfil 40 wt. long arm quilting thread.

I've finished my first big quilt of the year!
The finished quilt is 80" x 80"
I love it!

All week I've invited bloggers to inspire us with black and white sewing projects and quilts.

We had some unbelievable blog posts!!

I'm excited to introduce our final day's line-up of bloggers.

Have fun visiting each blog and making new friends.

They have worked hard to show us some new ideas, so be sure to thank them with
a sweet comment!

Still Wednesday at my house, but looks like it's Thursday at yours, so I'm going to sneak in and leave my comment since I couldn't resist looking at the gorgeous last day quilts! This has been such a fun blog hop. It is so interesting how each quilt seems to reflect its maker, despite using only two or three colors (or shades). Tonight I am especially taken with Quiltscapes' Kaleido-quilt.

This is such a beautiful quilt Carla and I've loved seeing all the projects and reading all the posts, tips and directions that accompanied them. It seems as though it ended so quickly though, but time does have a habit of flying by at lightening speed, doesn't it.

I forgot to add that I love the way you used both starkish whites and creams in your quilt. I think it really adds depth and personality to your finished quilt.

The Joyful Quilter's many little projects were so fun - I liked to see a variety of additional colors. My favorite may have to be the pink followed closely by the purple. Thanks for all the fun this week!

This is a wonderful quilt, Carla, I love the little hints of yellow and grey in this quilt. Such a cool layout also. Sorry it's taken me a bit to get around to all the sites, but I'm working on it. I have to do it between all the internet interruptions this morning.

Carol said...

Wow, what an amazing quilt! I love the white center and borders that set off the rest of the black and white fabrics (and visa versa). I've made a quilt using this method with bright oranges, greens, browns, black, but, boy, am I super-impressed with your colors and lay-out. Have to remember this for a future quilt. This was a neat hop, as they all seem to be. So many creative ideas flowing. Thanks for hosting this hop!
