Velcome |
First, let me thank Madame Samm for creating this Halloween party and Vendy Wendy for organizing this event. Ve have all been so excited to share our vicked little creations.
Velcome is an appliqued quilt with a few tricks. I am a true vampire fan and have read all of the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles as well as others. I don't know why I like vampires, I just do. I've named this one Mystat. He's mine and my favorite vampire is Lestat. If you are a vampire fan, you know who he is. Mystat started out as a large drawing on freezer paper and slowly the details came together.
His hands and face were hand embroidered before the applique process began. Mystat is cute and evil at the same time. How does that happen?
A bald vampire? |
After stippling his cape with bumps and stars, I decided to "man him up" a little with some free motion lightning bolts on the background.
Lightening bolt free motion quilting |
A vampire needs friends, so I made a few vampire
Bats seem like the logical friends of a vampire, but having rats on the porch makes people jump a little more and ve like that...
My hubby made this vonderful stand to put my quilt on. The Halloween bracket on top can be replaced with Christmas or other holiday decorations. He is a wonder with metal. It looks like I will be making more quilts of this size to accommodate my new quilt stand. Vhat a great vay to velcome our guests.
If you aren't villing to leave a little blood, you should go on over to the other stops on this trick or treating excursion. There are many treats ahead. Thank you for visiting my little stop.

I do have a treat for you. If you vould like the template for the vampire face, it is free HERE.
Have a Happy Halloween,
Talk about driving spell check crazy. You're Velcome...

What a fun stop on the hop! Your dialect reminded me of a boss I had in my early career - he was from Estonia. Except he pronounced v's as w's. They had a daughter about the time I had my son. They named her Eva. It was so funnee to hear him talk about Ewa. Thanks for including info about the process. I admire the fact that you created this yourself. I have some creativity and have no artistic ability. I have to take other things and incorporate them together or explain my vision and get someone to draw it for me. I have a BIL who is an artist and when my daughter was at home, she saved my backside a few times when I was in grad school and need art work for projects. Thank you for participating and being a great inspiration. You and your hubby make an awesome team. When I read the name of your blog, I had to laugh. I grew up in the Sticks. I went to a one room school with no running water, so obviously path houses (out houses) and I was the only girl in my grade. All the other grades had more than one boy and more than one girl. It just turned out that my folks had the only girl born in that age range. Our school was 1-5. We did not have public kindergarten either. We had one junior high and one high school in the county. We didn't think anything about it because it was normal to us. When I went to town to school in 6th grade, I was bored, the teacher gave us time to do our assignments and there wasn't anything to do when I was finished. There was always a class going on in our one room school. So, if you weren't working on an assignment, you listened to the class in the front of the room. Also, our 6th grade teacher went to sleep while we were working independently. People would finally drop books to wake him up. Again, thanks for a laugh, too.
Very cool! You did a wonderful job with this. Love that stand idea with the interchangeable decorations!
Really gorgeous! And this little cute rats! :)
He's a very wicked vampire.
I love it! That is awesome!!
Ha Ha yes I'm sure all those V's were causing all kinds of wavy lines. Your vampire is so cute!! Good job on him. And the rats, I love their fangs. I too like vampire books.
His eyes definitely look haunting!
