WATERMELON POTHOLDERS - OVEN MITTS

This watermelon shaped potholder doubles as an oven mitt.

There is a pocket between the red watermelon and the green rind.
This quick project celebrates the end of summer and would make a great hostess gift for your Labor Day gatherings.

The watermelon slice finishes at 13" x 13" to fit any size hand.
The double layers of HeatNBond fusible fleece will keep the heat away.

Find the full tutorial to make your own watermelon potholder on the ThermOWeb blog today.

The full pattern is also available in my Craftsy pattern store HERE.

May summer never end.....

A NO SEW Knit Skirt with HeatnBond Soft Stretch™ Ultra

Can you believe it?  This knit skirt was made without one stitch thanks to new HeatnBond Soft Stretch™ Ultra.
I'm over on the Thermoweb blog today with my  demonstration of new HeatnBond Soft Stretch™ Ultra.
I made this cute floral knit skirt with no sewing at all.
 Not one stitch.

I have to admit, I'm a "short cut" kind of girl.  When I see a one hour clothing pattern I am always ready to sew.  The trouble is, I spend a day making that 1 hour project.

With HeatnBond Soft Stretch™ Ultra I really made a 1 hour pattern in 1 hour and didn't sew a stitch. So put your sewing machine away for this project and check it out over at
Thermoweb.

In case you were wondering, I've washed this skirt 3 times now and even wore it to work and the
HeatnBond Soft Stretch™ Ultra is still as strong and soft now as it was when I first made this little floral skirt.

Block of the Month #6 - School of Fish meets Baby Playsuit

July will soon be over and the new block for the
Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month will be revealed.

In the meantime, I've been playing with this month's block a little more.

Quilt blocks can be used for more than just quilts.

I used one of  the paper pieced "School of Fish" blocks to make this baby playsuit.

The block was the perfect size  and all I had to do was add fabric around the block before I cut out the pattern piece.

The Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month is
Hosted by Amy over at

This is the original block #6 ( the border of fish) and the original post is here.

The pattern for the playsuit is from the book, "cute clothes for kids" by Rob Merrett.

This book is full of fun patterns for little ones.
I want to make every one.

The pattern called for a pocket on top.
I modified it to use the quilt block for a little fishing buddy.
I just love making little clothes.
This one is 6 month size.

If you follow my blog, you are probably wondering about all the little things that have been showing up on my blog lately.  Well, I am just preparing for a future announcement....
