to the Sticks
and
the second day of the
"Say What?" Challenge
Here is my finish: Today Is My Day
Joan at MooseStashQuilting invited a great group of Bloggers to
create something inspired by something they have to say.
Thanks, Joan, for inviting me!
every morning that "this is my day".
So when I found this project in the book "Sew Illustrated" by Minki Kim and Kristin Esser
I tweaked it from "This is the Day" to "This is MY Day.
I bought them because they "spoke" to me.
Why do they sit and not get used?
So with my goal to dust my crafty and quilting books,
this is the one that "spoke" the loudest for the challenge.
From the reinforced corners to the quick zipper pocket inside,
the project was super fun and used techniques I hadn't done before.
Plus, I used some of my favorite Tula Pink fabric to make my new tote
perfect for me.
Check out the others that are saying "Today is My Day" today:

Very cute bag. I often ask myself about the quilting books that I own, lol. They often come in handy though.
Lovely bag! I also love turning to books for sewing and crafting inspiration.
I love it. We all need a tote bag with that kind of inspiration on it. Great way to use some of those books, we just had to have as well. Thanks for sharing your Say What moment with us!
Every so often I go through my books and if there is anything in them I would make now, if not I donate them and I have donated dozens of books! I only keep the ones I think or I would like to make something from. Glad you are using your books and such a cute project you made.
Adorable project! I go through my books frequently. I know I saved them for something as they spoke to me. Thanks so much for sharing!
What a great idea, Carla. I, too, buy books so often and rarely do I actually make something from them. I sure enjoy the experience of perusing them, though. :) Great to see what you made. Changing the wording just a bit makes it more 'YOU'. Thanks, Carla.
I got rid of a lot of books when we moved, but held on to a few favorites. Thanks for the reminder to use them! I love this bag and that design is just the best. "Today is my day" is a wonderful thought to start our days. xo
How adorable is this!!!! I love my quilt books as well. They bring a lot of inspiration; so glad you found the perfect project for the challengs.
Love your inspirational saying. Mine favorite saying is "One Day or Day One" and it has helped me get through some tough times. Thanks for sharing!
OH Gosh that is such a cute bag. You did great!
Today is YOUR day to give yourself a HUGE pat on the back!!! What a fantastic tote!!! :-)

What a fun tote!
Great bag, and quote! Thanks for sharing.
Your bag brought back memories. For high school graduation, my parents gave me a Royal typewriter - not even an electric! It was blue. LOL
I love Minki Kim's work. You put her talents to great use in this tote. Your daily statement is perfect.
Carla your bag is perfect! I love the way you tweaked the saying. Thank you for sharing a wonderful project.
What a pretty bag and perfect way to use a resource you had to make the project for the hop. Love the tula fabric addition, too. I can see you sporting this as you go about your errands.
Love this bag! Great design! I was a secretary for many years, so I love typewriter designs. I just may have to copy this!
I just love this bag, Carla! I actually have an old typewriter that looks just like the one on your bag...somewhere in the bowels of my basement! It was my father-in-law's that he used in all his years of ministry. Thanks for sharing and bringing back this wonderful memory! Now I may have to go basement diving! LOL
What a cute tote bag!! I've been trying to use my quilt books more often, too. You're right, Carla! They speak to us and then we often end up ignoring them. Way to go on choosing a book AND making the project!
Oh, love it! So cute and useful! xx
