Green Apple Blocks Quilt - Little Green Apples Challenge

Welcome
to the Sticks
and
 the second day of the
"Little Green Apples Challenge"

Here is my finished
Green Apple Blocks Quilt.

Carol at Just Let Me Quilt invited a great group of Bloggers to
create something with green or apple fabric (or a combo of both!)
Thanks, Carol, for inviting me!

I have so many green scraps and I've always wanted to make a
blocks quilt, so this was the perfect chance.
I cut 5 1/2" equilateral triangles out of green fabrics (light, medium, and dark shades)
to design my blocks.
There are actually green apples in one of the fabrics.
I quilted it with a shamrock design.

But the best part of this quilt is the day we took pictures.
I had a pro to hold my quilt.

The hostess with the most!!!!
Our very own Carol from Just Let Me Quilt.

We went to Vegas a couple of weeks ago (again)...

Carol and her husband, Ron, took us out to the Colorado river for kayaking,
picture taking and they even packed us a picnic lunch.
Thank you, Carol!
It was such a fun day!!!  Memories made for sure!

The water is an emerald color - perfect for the green theme.

And then there was this guy with a green shirt...

I love that through this community we can build the best friendships.

Here are other friends posting today:

Have a happy week!

Gorgeous quilt. I am really enjoying this blog hop, as green is my favorite color. Beautiful scenery and looks like more fun times spent with Carol and her husband.

I like how the yellow sage blossoms bring out the yellow in the greens in that last picture. You two always have such fun together. I bought Debby Kratovil's diamond pattern to make my diamond CQ blocks, and loved her no-y-seams piecing. You found a way, too. The scenery where you took the pictures makes me homesick! =)

I have always loved the tumbling block quilt. I actually tried making one a long time ago (like 15 + years ago) when I was new to sewing but I tried with a template. Needless to say, it didn't go well for a novice. Looking back if I had thought of using triangles it may have gone differently. I actually still have the UFO and might try to finish it someday. But I know I will cringe when I see the seam allowances since I didnt know about them back then.

You two are so fun to adventure with! It was great to sit on the shore while you worked your arms paddling four miles up the waterway. Much easier for us! LOL I was so busy holding that quilt that I failed to look at it very closely. I love it! You definitely met the green challenge on this one. Thanks for sharing your quilt and vacation with me! xo

Green, green, green - so many lovely fabrics made with green. Love the quilt; I, too, have a 'block' quilt on my bucket list. You did a super job and the shamrock quilting was doubly wonderful.

Spectacular quilt, Carla! It gives me hope that I can finally make a Tumbling Blocks quilt, too. (I'm not as afraid of working with triangles as I am diamonds.) Glad to see that you had another fun visit with Carol!

Love your cube quilt Carla! It was fun seeing your quilt holder and I'm hoping to meet her in a couple of weeks when we go to Las Vegas! I'm also hoping to see a desert bloom (It's a bucket list thing you. know). I have made a couple of cube quilts, but your version is the best. :)

You gals make me smile!! Carla, thanks for the post and lovely project. I adore that effective green blocks quilt design. It's a classic that always looks so fun, clever and challenging (Y seams and all). I'm so thrilled to see more of your photos with Carol. How lucky you gals are to live in traveling distance. I want to hug you both for all these incredible blog hops!!! XOXOX
