A Little Quilting Buzz

The past week was such fun with the
Shades of Blue Sew It Show It Challenge
and
I really enjoyed hosting.

If you missed it, be sure to click the link and check out all the wonderful blues!

As I was visiting the posts, new activities were presented
and
I decided to jump on board with a few.

I've never participated in a round-robin, have you?
This one is unique in that you do all the stitching.
It's a stay-at-home round-robin.
Quilting Gail has all the info HERE.

I missed the round where you show your center block.
This week is the first round and the prompt, Spool Block, is by

I had an orphan block I reworked into a spool for my
SAHRR (Stay at Home Round Robin) 6" center block.

Then I used the tutorial provided by Home Sew By Us to make the 3" spool blocks for the first border round.
I can't wait to do the next round.
I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm jumping in with both feet.  haha

there is a really neat challenge for the year.

There will be a prompt and a tutorial link every month
and
at the end of the year, we will have a full gift box.
Joy shared the fabric basket she made this month for
and I just had to make one too.

I can't wait to see what gift we will be making next month!

Bea at BeaQuilter is hosting her annual

The idea is you look at your shelf of quilt books and find an old one or one you haven’t used in a while and “dust it off” and then make something from the book.

I need to use those books so I'm in.
My day to post is March 6th.
Bea has all the details HERE.

Maybe one of these things sounds like fun to you too!

I've done a couple where we actually mailed the blocks and didn't get to see ours till it came home to us. (We did share with other members, I think; but it's been a long time, so not sure.) On one we had to send FQs of fabric so that there would be fabric continuity, though we could ass as well. I've done one other at my local guild where we did all the work ourselves with prompts that we could use, modify or ignore. Similar rules to this one. When I'm in the mood, they are fun. Sometimes I don't like to pace with the prompts. Here's my blog link since you don't offer the option of signing up that way and I think I'm a no-reply though I once clicked not to be. Hi Carla! Your center block is so cool! It is a spool block in both directions. Some days it is a white spool, while other days it's a black spool. Very clever. And your border of colorful spools is just so pretty! I adore the yellow background fabric - it is happy-looking and it offsets the spools so nicely. I'm so glad you decided to join in! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

I love your spool surrounded by spools, and the fun bright colors! Great little fabric basket, too. I'll have to look and see how that's made!

Love your spool with spools! I think you will enjoy SAHRR. You and I are doing many of the same....I noted that bag as a maybe next week project! I need to look at my books right after this note for the book hop!

I've done the mail out RR, and all those you posted. I like to try everything! I haven't made my basket yet, but I will in February. So many other things hit in January. Your RR center and first round are adorable, and I know you'll have fun with this one. You always throw yourself in 100% to what you are doing, and I appreciate that! Have fun with all these activities this year. I think Joy will keep me on track to have some gifts at Christmas for my friends.

I'm so glad you are joining us for the SAHRR! Yay! Your center spool block with the tumbling blocks around it is so cheerful and fun. Thanks for the heads up on the other QALs, too - I like that gift a month idea, so I'm going to check that out.
