Today I welcome

Susan doesn't have a blog but wanted to join in the
Stitching Sunshine blog hop with a fun project
so she is my guest today.
I asked her to introduce herself and share her project:
I asked her to introduce herself and share her project:
Hi,
I have been quilting for about 12 years, although still feel like a beginner. I have come a LONG way considering I knew nothing about fabric and a sewing machine. I didn’t know how to thread the machine or fill a bobbin.
Terms like selvage, bias, grainline, applique, binding, basting, sashing, dog ears, feed dogs, hanging sleeves, and many more were foreign to me. I have been very blessed to have started this hobby, during the time of the internet. YouTube and blogs have been my best teachers. I can spend hours on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest for inspiration.
I found my tribe when I joined my local quilt guild and have a close bond with my special “sewing bee” friends.
My sewing room is my happy place. I have a long list of projects to complete and another longer list of projects I want to make. I didn’t realize until just recently how my scraps have multiplied over the years. I am currently working on my 3rd scrappy bargello (Bonnie Hunter). It has been wonderful working on these scrappy quilts during the quarantine.
I got this pattern from a book (Susan Carlson) I started her method of collage quilting. I soon discovered I HATED collage quilting. I ripped off all the pieces I had painstakingly cut and placed and settled for this. I gave this wall hanging to my granddaughter.
She truly is my sunshine! I often sang “You Are My Sunshine” to her when she was a baby. The words are on a label on the back.
I used fabric markers to make the sunshine and embroidered the words.
Please join the others posting sunshine today!

That's lovely! Thank you for sharing!
I used to sing the same song to my youngest son who is now 27. Your story has inspired me to make him a sunshine quilt. Thanks for sharing!
I’m sure your granddaughter will cherish this quilt.
What a charming quilt for your granddaughter; I'm sure she'll love it!
LOL what a face! I hope your Gdd likes it, so bright and sunshiny :)
I love your colorful sun! How neat that you are giving it to your granddaughter--I also sang "You are My Sunshine" to my granddaughters. Very touching!
How very pretty -- sang that song to my grandson when he was born, he is now 20!!
Lovely, the sunshine is fabulous. I sang that song to my daughters when they were little. Um I sing that song to my dog in the morning while I am getting ready for work too. LOL
Ahhhh...this is something that has such a special meaning between you and your grand daughter. These are the moments that quilting is all about. You are definitely a quilter, if your scrap busting. LOL!!
Bonnie Hunter is just about the best around for that too. Thanks for joining us. Hope to see more of you and your creations.
It is such a cute bit of sunshine. I'm sure your granddaughter will treasure this forever.
Thanks for joining in the Hop with your awesome project! That's the beauty of quilting, isn't it? There is more than ONE WAY to do almost any project you can imagine. Try them and move on, if you find a particular technique doesn't work for you!
Perfect wall hanging for this hop! I love You Are My Sunshine! Great to sing with my son, and it's the song I most associate my mom singing with me.
Beautiful bright and sunny quilt! I am sure your granddaughter loves it! Love the song title on the back. What a sweet way to keep a memory.
What an adorable project! Thanks so much for sharing!
Real sunshine, and a sweet story.
I’m sure your granddaughter is enjoying her Sunshine quilt and hears you singing the song every time she looks at it! Thank you for sharing.
You really have been Stitching Sunshine. And it is a very bright day because of it. Great job. Thanks for joining us.
Susan S ... thank you for sharing the "You are my sunshine" quilt! It's a beautiful sunshine!
Me, too. "You Are My Sunshine" was the song I sang to my grands as babies, too. :) This is a gorgeous quilt and 'just the thing' for this hop. What lovelies memories this will stir up for your granddaughter.
So nice to meet Susan. Her work is amazing. Pretty wall hanging.
I sang this song to my son when he was a wee one. I love the quilt and so sweet that it went to your grandaughter. You definitely stitched sunshine!
Susan you are doing a fantastic job, so fun to hear of your story of what it was like for you to join the quilting world.
Cute project.
As always, I am inspired by all the creative people and creative projects in the blog hop.

Such a happy and cheery wallhanging.
I had a similar Hebrew song that I used to sing to one of my middle twins. It would stop him from crying immediately. I still don't understand why that worked, but it was wonderful.
What a fun Sun! It looks like you planned it that way.
Fun wall hanging.
I love Susan's project! So fun!
I'm so glad you joined us, Susan, and shared your sunshine. This is a sweet piece that makes me smile, as I'm sure it did your granddaughter. I love it!
I tried to do that same pattern by s. Carlson... never liked it or finished either. Great Idea for a blog hop
