This year I decided to go bigger and better
and make a quilt.
I call this technique collage applique, but someone told me it's called broderie perse.
I'm pretty sure this isn't what the early quilters had in mind for broderie perse....
Although it is a lot of flowers.
because I love this technique so much.
The quilting is free motion flowers in the black and a little meandering on the applique.
and
my favorite "go to" Aurifil light grey - 2600 for the sugar skull.
There are all kinds of little critters hiding among the flowers.
He just makes me smile.

Gonna have to bookmark this one (and Pin it). I just love applique and incorporating it into my quilts. In fact I have to restrain myself. Great idea of hoarding all of those fussy cut flowers.

Wow, just amazing! I doubt I will make a skull, but I would love to use the technique with the flowers for something. I think it would make an amazing wreath. Or maybe a Christmas tree cut from Christmas floral prints.

Sugar skulls are all the rage, and yours is cute.
I find that skulls are a bit creepy as a quilting project, but the flowers do make it a lot less creepy.....almost to the point I may have to try one. LOL Thanks for sharing. raydeer@memlane.com
