Blooming Stars - Project Quilting Season 6 Challenge 5 - My Favorite Fabric

I'm posting this quickly because it is due in 20 minutes.

I've been up quilting and binding all night and have just finished it.

Life happens and then you just have to adjust....  lol

The Challenge:  My Favorite Fabric

This week we’re asking you to pull out your favorite fabric.  You know, that one that’s too pretty to cut into.
  1. Use your favorite fabric.  You can add as many other fabrics as you’d like, but since this one is your favorite, I expect it to be easily recognized in your completed project.
  2. Be sure to take a picture of your favorite fabric and post it with your finished project.
  3. Every challenge piece must be a FINISHED project seen through from INCEPTION to COMPLETION during the challenge timeline. Each piece must stand alone as DONE to count toward prizes.
  4. Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt, but must meet at least one of these requirements:
    1. Include patchwork.
    2. Include appliqué.
    3. Have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.
  5. Your project must have a name.
  6. Projects must be FINISHED and LINKED UP  by Sunday, March 8th at Noon, CST.

This was the fabric I chose as my favorite.  It just makes me smile to look at it.
The colors are so fun and bright.
I've just been afraid to cut into those pretty blooms...
until now.
The fabric is Riley Blake - Just Dreamy 2.

This quilt started with the small star in the middle.
That block was 10 1/2"
then I doubled the measurements and used the first star as the center for that block.
That block was 20 1/2"
then I doubled the measurements and used the second star as the center for that block.
That block was 40 1/2"
then I doubled the measurements and used the third star as the center for that block.
That block was 80 1/2"
then I added a border.

Is that easy enough?  lol

The last half square triangles I worked with were 20 1/2 inches.  Those are the biggest hst I've made to date.

Love your bright, happy star quilt! And your FMQ is great too. I love the idea of actually cutting into favorite fabrics... it's so hard to use them!

I like your favorite fabric...this is a really big quilt Carla! Of course you know that because you've been up all night working on it lol. Things like this seem to start growing about 12:30 am don't they ? I love stars, but girl... your quilting is most excellent ! I'm learning that design but it doesn't look as good as yours ! Would you come over and teach me ?

Beautiful! Love all the red and love your quilting!! I really like how you did the label, quilted right over it! That definitely makes it a permanent fixture of the quilt. Fantastic!
