Welcome to Creatin' in the Sticks
and
my day in the
Be a Diamond Blog Hop.
Carol at Just Let Me Quilt is hosting this blog hop
and
the posts have just been incredible.
I never thought about how diamonds in quilts can be so different
and add so much movement in a quilt.
My quilt is called
Stripe Me a Diamond.
It's string pieced on a foundation and then the diamond shape is paper pieced.
by Thermoweb
made paper piecing the diamonds
a piece of cake.
They are sturdy and see-through, yet easy to tear away.
They don't fall apart if you have to correct a mistake.
Ask me how I know...
You print the quilt block directly on the quilt block sheet and get right to stitching.
I made 64 blocks and played with the layout.
I wish I had taken a picture of my husband and son helping me remove all the quilt block sheets from the blocks. What would we do without help sometimes?
Ultimately deciding on an ombre look for sashing and borders.
Stripe Me a Diamond is 66" x 66"
and
is a stash busting quilt.
I quilted it on the Handiquilter with dragonflies and loops with the pro stitcher.

Again, what would we do without help?
I'm so lucky.

Fantastic quilt. We have learnt a lot about different diamonds over the week. I love how easy you diamond blocks were pieced. I must do more paper piecing.
Just gorgeous! I never realized how many different ways diamonds can be created and used in a quilt.
I love your quilt! I use freezer paper for all my paper piecing and have never heard of Stitch n Sew sheets.
Lovely and interesting! Thanks for sharing your diamond quilt idea.
Love your quilt! Another great way to use scraps too. I always enjoy your projects, Carla.
Oh, I love it! Great colour, and I never saw these sheets before...fantastic!

What a fun bright diamond in the sky;) I love how you sashed it.
I had to put on my shades because you are sparkling so bright today. Love the finish.
I'm loving all these diamond projects. Terrific.
This is a beautiful quilt that just sparkles like a diamond...love it! Those sheets are the best for paper piecing and make it so easy to tear off. I don't know what I'd do without my "crew" to help with photo shoots and all the other quilting needs I have. Thanks for hopping with us and sharing this amazing quilt!
You did a great job with the color transitions of your quilt! Thanks for sharing and for the give away chance. :) MelvaLovesScraps(at)NolanQualityCustoms(dot)com

Oh the joys of removing paper from projects. LOL!! I'm jealous that you had help. :-) Fun fun project. I have templates all printed out for a big Bonnie Hunter string diamond quilt that I can't wait to start. Your pushing me off the edge with this one!
Wow gorgeous quilt. Love the string blocks.

I´m so in love with your strippy diamonds. Thanks for sharing your lovely quilt
This quilt is gorgeous, Carla! I love those striped diamonds! I actually drew my first diamond paper pieced block in EQ8 yesterday! I guess your post is confirmation that that is really the way to go with my cornerstones! Mine won't be striped but it is paper-pieced. This will be the first time I've ever used a paper pieced block in a quilt. It's for our guild show in June. Now, after seeing how yours look so beautiful, I can't wait to go try this out. I'm new at paper piecing. I wish I had some of that StitchNSew to try out today!! LOL Have a great weekend, Carla - and thanks for the inspiration!
Beautiful block you designed and the quilt is fabulous!!
What a wonderful stash buster quilt, Carla!! Between the stripes, diamonds, and sashing, you really created a beauty. It's SEW gorgeous!
I love the way you've done this. So beautiful!
One of my favourite quilts in the be a diamond hop. Love the colours, the scraps and all the help you had from your wonderful family. Thanks for brightening my day.
