BEWARE - Black Cat at the House

Is it too early for Halloween crafting?
I don't think so.

This doorknob hanger has been approved by my inspiration for this project
and
today I'm sharing it over at the Thermoweb blog.

Have a room you don't want anyone to enter?
Want to warn trick-or-treaters?
Here's a fun way to decorate and solve those problems.
The colors work perfectly with a farmhouse decor too.

The stitched writing is
quick and easy with my technique using StitchnSew EZ-Print Quilt Block Sheets.

You'll find the free pattern and full tutorial over at the Thermoweb Blog today
so you can start Halloween crafting right away.

By the way, this cat was my inspiration for the design.
It took forever to get one good picture (at the top of this post)
I have so much respect for animal photographers.

And baby photographers...

The grand baby and the animals in a stare down.

Half Staff showed up with half a tail (the reason for his name) and adopted us.
He has grown a lot.
He was super tiny and pretty beat up when he arrived
and
he tried his best to nurse from the dog
(whom has never had pups and never will).

We don't know where Half Staff came from
but the dog is happy to have a companion
and
I am happy to have a black cat for some fun sewing inspiration.

You can never have too many shop cats in the country.

Woof Woof Meow Pet Stockings

At Christmas time, are you like us and give your pets presents too?

This year Santa will have stockings to fill for our furry family members.
Mollie is ready!

Today I am over at Thermoweb with a tutorial to make quick patchwork stockings for your favorite 4 legged friends.
Those tails will be wagging with excitement when you combine
 HeatNBond fusible fleece
 with Moda's new fabric,
Woof Woof Meow by Stacy Iest Hsu
to make some super sweet pet stockings.

These fabrics are so fun and Aurifil 50 wt. in #2310 is a great match for stitching around those appliques.

I didn't forget the kitties or our shop cat, Corn Flake.
Braid a mouse tail with Aurifil 12 wt. #2479 to make your kitty purr.
The cuffs are cozy fleece just like Santa would make.

The full tutorial and free pattern is on the Thermoweb blog today.

This is a great time of year (National Sewing Month) to start Christmas projects
and
this is super beginner friendly!

While you are at Thermoweb,
check out this sale and stock up on everything you need to make
these super sweet stockings.

Happy National Sewing Month!!

Ruger is excited too.

90 Degrees in October?

90 degrees in October?

Why yes it is.

That's why we are smiling.

That and we took a ride in the Viking this afternoon.

And watched the sun go down.
It was just beautiful.

I finished a couple of blocks for October in my Modern Block Party.

The queen of October is using these blocks to make a Patchwork Chevron Quilt.

Why is it, that every month I make these blocks I want to make the quilt?

These girls have great taste in pattern and colors.

The weatherman is saying this warm weather is going away.....
How sad.
I'll miss you warm weather.
Until we meet again.

P.S.  Don't forget to check out the blog hop going on over at Sew We Quilt.

Wicked Wendy has the complete schedule HERE for the Black Cat Crossing Blog Hop.

Pet's on Quilts - Deogie the Back Seat Driver

This is the last day for the Pets on Quilts Show and I want to share my (almost) famous dog with you.

Deogie

Welcome to Creatin' in the Sticks'
entry for

Pets on Quilts Show 2014!!

 Dog on a quilt category.
A great big thank you to Lily Pad Quilting!

This is Dogie.
She has been in our family for almost 15 years.
She was adopted when she was just a little handful and came from the pound.
Deogie is half black lab and half blue heeler which makes her a very smart dog as you shall see....

Deogie worked with my husband as a plumber for the first 10 years of her life.
Everyday she would jump in the truck and ride with him all day.
In fact, in her early years, we had trouble keeping her out of vehicles.
That is all she wanted to do, ride - or just sit in the car.
We had to lock the cars to keep her out of them.
She may have scratched a few car doors in her hay day....oops

One day my husband wanted to show how she let her self in the truck (no one would believe us).
One thing she hates is the smoke detector sound, so he made it go off at my in laws' house and recorded what she did...

This video was 6 1/2 years ago (almost 6000 views) and Deogie is retired from plumbing now.
She has gone with us everywhere for the last 15 years.
We very seldom leave her at home when we travel.
Some people recognize her and know her name without remembering our names.
She is a well behaved and smart dog.

She's a little grey now and very seldom leaves her bed, unless someone says,
" Let's GO."
She is always willing to ride in the car, but now it's in the back seat and she has to be lifted in.

Deogie isn't really a dog to pose for pictures, so I did what I knew would work and said,
"Let's GO!"

Her sister, Molly, understands what that means too.  She, unlike Deogie, will strike a pose anytime.
I prepared the backseat with the quilt, Peace and Harmony and they snuggled right in.

After a car ride, Molly is ready to pose for you....

Thanks for stopping by to see my girl (s).

Be sure and visit all the cute critters on quilts.

I have  a quilt made just for Deogie that I will share in the See You In September Blog hop so stay tuned...
