Sun, Sand, and Sea BOM 2017

Our Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month
has come to an end.

It's now time to put the quilt all together.

I put mine together with striped borders that crisscross in the blocks at the corners.

My finished quilt will be 53" x 65"
once I have it all quilted and bound.

The Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month was
hosted by Amy over at
and
I was one of her designer friends.

Thanks to Clothworks,
the blocks for this quilt were stitched with
solid fabrics.
The colors are so vibrant and nice to stitch with!
Perfect for the beach.

All of the blocks with the links for the patterns can be found by clicking HERE.

It's been a super fun block of the month!

I'll give this quilt a proper post once it's all finished.

Sun, Sand, and Sea BOM - Block #10 - Tips for a Successful Wave

Today the tenth block of the
Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month is revealed
and
Amy over at Sew Incredibly Crazy
has the link to her pattern to share.

This block is completely pieced and finishes 12" x 36".
You will find the link to download the pattern HERE.

I have a few tips to pass along while you put this month's block together.

Tips for sewing Block #10

#1  Use very accurate 1/4" seams or (like I did) scant 1/4" seams.

#2  After cutting triangles for A, B, and C press them in half to form a center line for future
      placement.

#3  Use the center line that was pressed to place the triangle in the center of each side.  Either fold the block in half  and crease or use the center seams for placement of the triangles.

#4  Pin the triangles in place before stitching.

#5  Trim the dog ears as you go to avoid excess bulk.

With these tips you will successfully have a wave of a good time!

Sun, Sand, and Sea BOM -Block #9 - Bathing Beauty

Today the ninth block of the
Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month is revealed
and
has the link to her pattern to share.

We can't have a sunny quilt without a swimsuit, flip flops, and sunscreen.

This block,
Bathing Beauty,
is super quick to make with only a little piecing and large fused applique pieces.
This block is big at 12" x 24" finished.
The pattern is available by clicking HERE.
I pieced 1 1/2" strips for my swimsuit before I cut and appliqued it to the background.

Thanks to
Clothworks,
I'm stitching my blocks for this quilt with
American Made Brand solid fabrics.
The colors are so vibrant and nice to stitch with!
Perfect for the beach.

To applique,
I ONLY use my favorite fabric iron on adhesive by
Therm O Web,

To stitch around all those little pieces
I used my "go to" -
50 wt.
