Foodie - Blog Hop Sign-ups for May 2022

Today I am happy to announce a new stitching blog hop.

What is a Blog Hop?

It's like a "show and tell" online.
Our blog hops feature sewing and quilting and are like joining a quilt guild without leaving home.  Once the theme (challenge) is presented we set to work sewing.
We inspire each other with projects, tutorials, or patterns.
Anyone can follow along.

There are about 2 months to sew something and join in on the fun.
It's another easy theme that should have you thinking of lots of things you could make.

The Challenge:

Create something to do with food.
It could be anything from a quilt with a food fabric, to a tea cozy.
A mug rug for coffee to an apron.
A Corn and Beans Quilt Block to a drying rack for the kitchen.
Maybe you are trying to raise money for a charity that supplies food.
You decide!
The theme is really your own interpretation, surprise us!

The Rules:

Post on your assigned day at 12:00 am Eastern time.
Have a giveaway or don't have a giveaway. It's totally optional!
Visit everyone's blog on the list and leave a sweet comment. Make friends!!!!

Are you in?

YES, that really is gochefs!!!!!!!!

Send me an email with the following information:
Your first name
Your email address
Your blog name
Your blog URL

Subject Line: Food!

PLEASE, email me the info.
I do know most of you, but if you don't send the info, I have to look up all your information.

If you have emailed me and don't hear from me within a week, please email me again or contact me on Facebook.  Sometimes Hotmail eats my homework...lol

(I will send you a date within one week after you sign up.)

Goin' Through Time - Time in a Bottle Blog Hop

Welcome to the first day of the

Time in a Bottle Blog Hop!

I'm happy to kick things off with
"Goin' Through Time"

Carol at Just Let Me Quilt presented bloggers with the challenge to make something
with an hourglass block.
Thank you, Carol, for inviting me to join this super fun blog hop!

I hinted back in November about this quilt and what I had in mind to make
when I made this mug rug for the

I'm trying to use as much of my stash fabric as possible this year
and I cut strips of varying widths to fit with the hourglass blocks.
It was so fun to design and put together this
Rainbow Hourglass quilt
that I call
Goin' Through Time

because the strips go "through" the hourglass blocks.
I have a free tutorial to make hourglass blocks that I made several years ago.

Goin' Through Time
is about 40" x 50" and is quilted with a simple meander.
The backing is a grey Minky fabric for coziness.

I love to make quilts in rainbow colors.

Want some more
Hourglass block inspiration?

Here is the full schedule:

It's so fun to get inspiration from Blog Hops.
I'm sure we will have way too many ideas swimming in our heads by the end of the week.

See you next month for Joan's
(my kind of hop for sure...)

Official sign-ups for the May Blog Hop will start soon
(after the Time in a Bottle blog hop is over).

Stay tuned for the announcement here at
Creatin' in the Sticks.

Kids Four-Leaf Clover Bag

I have a project full of luck to share today.

I'm over on the Thermoweb blog with a free pattern to craft a
Four-Leaf Clover Bag.
The perfect size to fill with chocolate gold coins for the littles or anyone
to celebrate the day of green.

These Kids Rainbow Four-Leaf Clover Bags are like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

Here is what I used to make the bags:

Heat-n-Bond® – Craft Extra Firm Fusible Interfacing to keep the bag in perfect shape no matter how much weight is added and, of course, HeatnBond Lite Fusible Adhesive, my favorite fabric adhesive for applique.  Rainbow fabric strips, green lining, green polka dots for the four-leaf clover, and black fabric to make the rainbow fabrics sing.

Sending the luck of the Irish!

Holiday Hearts with a Twist - Dust Off a Quilt Book Blog Hop

Today is my stop in the
Dust Off a Quilt Book
Blog Hop
Hosted by Bea at Beaquilter.

So, here are my Holiday Hearts with a Twist.

The idea is for the hop is to find an old quilt book on your shelf and make something from it.

Here is my lovely:

The Thimbleberries Book of Quilts by Lynette Jensen
copyright 1995

This book was given to me by a friend from her mom's estate.
Her mom even put her name inside the front cover - so special.

The Holiday Hearts looked like fun - all strip piecing (love)!

I wanted to change things up a bit, so I used all green scraps and made 3 of the 16" hearts.
Once I laid them together, I designed a stem, and presto,
a shamrock!

They are still Holiday Hearts, just a different holiday.

I may stitch them together or I kind of like that I can use them as placemats if I choose.
They are the perfect festive touch for our table this month.

Here is the schedule of those showing off their old quilt book projects:

Please check them out leave them some warm and fuzzy comments.
There are some fun old books to see.

I really do need to use my books more often.
Thanks, Bea, this was fun!

Cackling Stitches Block of the Month - March

It's the second month for the Cackling Stitches
Block of the Month,
"Creepy Critters".

This month I have a Creepy Critter Block to release:
Jackie the Jockey

Jackie the Jockey found his head and he's ready to ride.

Joan from MooseStash Quilting is releasing
Petey the Poltergeist
(this is my version of the block)

Petey is perfectly creepy and enjoys the company of his black cat.

Carol at Just Let Me Quilt, Joan at MooseStash Quilting, and I are the wickedy creative minds behind this block of the month.
Together we celebrate Halloween all year!

You can too!
Join us over on the

Here's how the "Creepy Critters" BOM works at our
Facebook Cackling Stitches group:

The BOM will run from February 1st to August 1st.

On the 1st day of each month we will release block patterns in the Facebook Group that will be free until the next blocks are released.

Once new blocks are released, the previous month's blocks will no longer be free. They will be available in our Etsy stores.

In August the entire pattern will be combined and sold in our Etsy stores.

We hope you appreciate the time we put into creating the BOM quilt and understand that we are keeping the costs to a minimum. If you're quick to get the patterns during the month they are free, there will be no cost to you.

All of the details including the supply list is available on the Cackling Stitches Facebook Page.
