A Little Quilting Buzz

 The past week was such fun with the
Shades of Blue Sew It Show It Challenge
and
I really enjoyed hosting.

I decided to jump on board with a few.

I've never participated in a round-robin, have you?

This one is unique in that you do all the stitching.

It's a stay-at-home round-robin.

I missed the round where you show your center block.

This week is the first round and the prompt, Spool Block, is by

Home Sew By Us

I had an orphan block I reworked into a spool for my 

SAHRR (Stay at Home Round Robin) 6" center block.

Then I used the tutorial provided by Home Sew By Us to make the 3" spool blocks for the first border round.

I can't wait to do the next round.

I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm jumping in with both feet.  haha

Then over at Days Filled With Joy

there is a really neat challenge for the year.

There will be a prompt and a tutorial link every month

and

at the end of the year, we will have a full gift box.

During the Shades of Blue Challenge, 

Joy shared the fabric basket she made this month for

One Gift a Month

 and I just had to make one too.

I can't wait to see what gift we will be making next month!

The idea is you look at your shelf of quilt books and find an old one or one you haven’t used in a while and “dust it off” and then make something from the book.

I need to use those books so I'm in.

Cute and Functional - A Shop Hop Fabric Organizer Basket - Tutorial

I had so much fun playing with the Shop Hop collection of fabrics

 by Bonnie Krebs for Henry Glass Fabrics.

The panels are the perfect size to make little fabric baskets and the coordinating fabrics 

make perfect lining and binding.

The basket holds it's shape because of the

 HeatnBond® Craft Extra Firm Non-Woven Interfacing.

Just look at the cute characters and all the quilting goodness (even a little wine drinking).

Bring the Outdoors in with a Fabric Easter Basket Wall Planter - It Holds it's Shape with HeatNBond Craft Interfacing

I am so tired of cold weather and can't wait to get outside and plant flowers.  Here is an easy way to bring the garden inside and it's a great way to decorate for Easter too.  In fact, one of these little wall planters would make the perfect Easter gift or even for May Day baskets.  Making these in seasonal colors like the ones found in Camelot Fabric's Kaleidoscope collection brings spring indoors.

Fabric Basket Wall Planter

Size is for a standard 4" pot with no holes on the bottom.

Supplies:
Heat-n-Bond® – Craft Extra Firm Fusible Interfacing
Heat-n-Bond®  - Fusible Medium Weight Interfacing
Fabric - 3 fat quarters
Thread - Aurfil 50 wt (#5006)
Iron (I love my Oliso Pro)
Sewing Machine
Erasable marking pen
Other general sewing supplies

Fabric cutting:
Outside patchwork:  16 - 2 1/4" squares
Outside bottom(lavender):  1 - 5 1/2" x 7 1/2"
Hanging loop (lavender):  1 - 1 1/2" x 3"
Basket handle (lavender): 1 - 3" x 8"
Lining (teal):  1 - 7 1/2" x 12 1/2"  

Interfacing cutting:
From Heat-n-Bond® – Craft Extra Firm Fusible Interfacing
For basket handle:  1 - 2" x 8"
For outside basket:  1- 7 1/2" x 12 1/2"

From Heat-n-Bond®  - Fusible Medium Weight Interfacing
For basket lining:  1 - 7 1/2" x 12 1/2"

This would be a sweet little Easter basket if the hanging loop is left off. 

 Just fill it with your favorite goodies.
