Sun, Sand, and Sea - Block #4

Today the fourth block of the
Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month is revealed
and
Joan over at Moosestash Quilting
has the link for her block pattern to share.

This quilt wouldn't be complete without playing in the sand.
Joan captured it perfectly
with
this 12" x 12" pieced and appliqued block.
Joan has the pattern link on her blog HERE.

Thanks to Clothworks, I'm stitching my blocks with  American Made Brand solid fabrics.
The colors are so vibrant and nice to stitch with!

To applique,
I ONLY use my favorite fabric iron on adhesive by Therm O Web,

To stitch around all those little pieces
I used my "go to" color of Aurifil 50 wt.  (#2600).

The Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month is

Cute and Functional - A Shop Hop Fabric Organizer Basket - Tutorial

I had so much fun playing with the Shop Hop collection of fabrics
by Bonnie Krebs for Henry Glass Fabrics.

The panels are the perfect size to make little fabric baskets and the coordinating fabrics
make perfect lining and binding.

The basket holds it's shape because of the

Just look at the cute characters and all the quilting goodness (even a little wine drinking).

If you would like to make a fabric basket,
I am sharing the tutorial over on the  Thermoweb blog today.

I would love it if you would check it out and make one for yourself.

Romantic Ruffle Flower Pillow Cover with Anna Griffin Fabric

I'm jumping for joy to share my newest tutorial for Thermoweb
and
Spring quilt market display for Anna Griffin Fabric.

I've seen so many flower pillows, but they all seem to use felt for the flowers.
I want my pillows to be soft and comfy.
That is why I decided to create this pattern and use
in the ruffle to create dimension and softness.

The full tutorial is on the ThermOWeb blog today click - Here
and
You can download the PDF pattern from my Craftsy pattern store HERE.
or
click on this button.

Can't you just picture these in a garden decor room or
my newest interest, Junk Gypsy, French Country, and Shabby Chic decorating style?

When these pillow covers come home
they will be my inspiration for a new bedroom.

I'm really thinking of a quilt with these romantic ruffled flowers.

Maybe...

Chernobyl Children's Quilt Bee

My friend, Jennifer over at Glinda Quilt's, asked for help with some quilty gifts
for a charity she is involved with.  You see, she has the biggest heart.

is a charity that helps children living in Belarus and Northern Ukraine who still suffer the effects of low level radiation even 30 years after the nuclear accident in Chernobyl.

Chernobyl Children's Life Line (CCLL) will take children to North Wales this summer.
While there, the children will enjoy a combination of uncontaminated food, fresh air and sunshine, exciting trips, and lots of exercise.  This stay helps strengthen the children's weakened immune systems and does them a power of good.

This quilting bee was born last year when Jennifer decided to send each child home with a tote bag and quilted table mat and we are doing it again this year!!

The tote bag is for the child
and
the table mat is to take home to the child's family.
There will be even more goodies for the children this year as this quilting bee grows.

This is my little contribution.

The tote bag is made with a batik fabric I've loved for awhile combined with a Moda Grunge fabric that I think coordinates well with it.  I chose to make my tote bag with Jennifer's tutorial. She always has easy to follow instructions and very clear pictures.  I changed it up by only using three 4 1/2" strips and added a ruffled pocket to both sides of the tote.

I decided to add a flower to both sides also.  That tutorial is HERE.

The table mat is the pattern Flower Box.
The original pattern is for 12" but I enlarged it to 16" finished.
The fabric is from Free Spirit with others from my stash.

I've had very little time on the Handi Quilter this year so I jumped on the chance for a little practice.  The mat could have used a bit more quilting, but I didn't want to take my chances at messing this pretty quilting up.  lol

I made a little something, something for Jennifer, but that will have to wait.  It's a secret...

I've been super busy with projects for quilt market and Thermoweb.

This is a little sneak peek at the Anna Griffin fabric I've been working with for Blend Fabrics.  The fabric is so feminine and pretty.  I can't wait to show this Mother's Day gift idea on the Thermoweb blog and at Quilt Market.

But this quilt market project will be on the Thermoweb blog next week.
It is also Anna Griffin fabric for Blend.  All these fabrics are from the Charlotte collection.

Wait, there's more.  I've been a busy blogger, it just doesn't show here....yet.

This little collection of fabrics called Shop Hop from Henry Glass is a hoot and I can't wait to show some quilty gift ideas to sew.

Which brings us back to Jennifer (hint).
My friend in the UK with the biggest giving heart.

I'm thrilled to help her on her mission.

How lucky are we to meet such wonderful people all over the world
while sharing our hobby with each other.

Thank you, Jen, for your big heart!

A Quick Little Fleece Stuffed Bunny in an Easter Basket Pocket Pillow

Easter will be here soon and it's now or never for sewing up little gifts.

With a little modification of a pattern
my Friday finish is a sweet little bunny stuffie with it's own Easter basket pillow.

This little bunny is so soft in fleece and the pillow is a soft cotton knit.
The pillow is about 12" and the bunny is almost 13" tall.

The pattern is from this Valentine stuffie bear and pillow that was created for Thermoweb.

The full FREE pattern for this bear and heart pocket pillow is available in PDF form in my Craftsy shop.

Add some ears and whiskers and you can have your own little bunny too.

For the center of the ears and the basket applique,
It's just like HeatNBond Lite only it's for stretchy fabrics like fleece or knit.

For the pillow, I traced a plate and added a 1/2" for seams and the pocket is just a half circle.
The pocket has the basket bottom appliqued behind it and the handle was appliqued too.
So easy to do and a cute little gift to whip up in an afternoon.

Today I had some happy mail.
My last Project Quilting entry, Blocks of Time, was the viewers choice winner.
Thank you to everyone who voted!!!!

A “Poppy Mae” Jelly Roll from Moda Fabrics.  Thank you Moda and
Kim at Persimon Dreams for the super, duper prize!!

Have a great weekend!
