Bona Lisa's Sweater Emporium - 2024 Block of the Month

It won't be long before a new

Cackling Stitches

block of the month will begin and we're so excited!

Halloween should be all year, right?

It's our 4th year for the Cackling Stitches Facebook group
and
it's so fun to be part of the design team.
Joan, Carol, and I have been working away and we are ready to share
a peek at the quilt for next year.

Bona Lisa's Sweater Emporium
50" x 74"

This is my version of Bona Lisa's Sweater Emporium.

I used solid and Halloween fabrics from my stash
with a background of Kona solids.
And of course, Aurifill Thread.

Check out Moosestash Quilting's version HERE.
Check out Just Let Me Quilt's version HERE.

How do we run our BOM's? We try to keep them easy!

The 2024 "Bona Lisa's Sweater Emporium" BOM runs from January through September.

All block releases happen on our Cackling Stitches Facebook page HERE.

We even give you the fabric requirements early to help you conjure/gather your fabrics.
You can find it HERE.

How our Bona Lisa's Sweater Emporium BOM works...

On the first day of each month, we release a block pattern
(sometimes it's more than one)
that is free for the entire calendar month

After that, those blocks go into our individual
ETSY shops where you can purchase them.

For those who can't wait for each month's block(s),
the whole pattern will be available in January for purchase.

We have some fun things planned with this quilt so be sure to join us!

Contemporary Crazy Border Quilt - Dust Off a Quilt Book Blog Hop

Today is my stop in the

Dust Off a Quilt Book
Blog Hop
Hosted by Bea at Beaquilter.

So, here is my Contemporary Crazy Border Quilt.

The idea for the hop is to find an old quilt book on your shelf and make something from it.

Here is my book:

The Quilting Bible from the Singer Sewing Reference Library
copyright 1997

This book has been sitting in my sewing room because I was intrigued by this project:

I have had this piece of fabric forever.

It was time to use it.

My Contemporary Crazy Border Quilt was fun and totally took me away from my own
design style.  I guess that is the point of a challenge such as this.

Here is the schedule of those showing off their old quilt book projects:

There are some fun old books to see.

I really do need to use my books more often.
I have so many that are from the 90's but not many older than that.
Now, magazines, I have waaaaaaay too many old ones.
It may be time to do some spring cleaning...

Thanks, Bea, this was fun!

Which Way to Witchville - Blocks of the Month 2023

It is almost time for the
Cackling Stitches
block of the month to begin and we're so excited!

Halloween should be all year, right?

It's our 3rd year for the Cackling Stitches Facebook group
and
it's so fun to be part of the design team.
Joan, Carol, and I have been working away and we are ready to share
a peek at the quilt.

Which Way to Witchville
48" x 64"

This is my version of Which Way to Witchville.

I used "Sugar" by Sarah Watts for Ruby Star Society for my fabric applique and borders
with a background of Kona solids.
And of course, Aurifill Thread.

Check out Moosestash Quilting's version HERE.

How do we run our BOM's? We try to keep them easy!

The 2023 "Which Way to Witchville" BOM runs from January 1st through September 30th.

All block releases happen on our Cackling Stitches Facebook page HERE.

We even give you the fabric requirements early to help you conjure/gather your fabrics.
You can find it HERE.

How our Which Way to Witchville BOM works...

On the first day of each month, we release a block pattern
(sometimes it's more than one)
that is free for the entire calendar month
in our Cackling Stitches Facebook Group.

After that, those blocks go into our individual
ETSY shops where you can purchase them for $2 each.

New and free block(s) then appear for the new month...and so on, and so on.

So, what is "NEW" and has never been done by us?

Beginning January 1st,
the ENTIRE pattern is available in each of our ETSY shops for $15.

We've had so many people ask us if they can buy the whole thing at once,
so we decided to go for it.

If you can't wait for each block release
or
you don't have a Facebook page, this is for you!

We hope you appreciate the time we put into creating this BOM and understand that we keep
the costs to a minimum for you.
We ask that you respect our copyrights and do not share the
pattern with others.

You're welcome to direct your friends to our Cackling Stitches Group
Facebook or any of our ETSY shops so they can get their own patterns starting January 1st.

Creatin' in the Sticks Etsy Store HERE.

Just Let Me Quilt Etsy Store HERE.

Moosestash Quilting Etsy Store HERE.

It's going to be a great new year for sure.
Have a great holiday
and
I'll see ya on January 1st for the first block!

Crayon Drawstring Bag for a Certain Little Valentine

I have a fun project to share today.

I'm over on the Thermoweb blog with a free pattern to craft a
Crayon Drawstring Bag.

My little granddaughter loves to color so I made her a little bag of coloring books and crayons.

This drawstring bag is the perfect size for a couple of coloring books and all the crayons too.

HeatnBond Medium Weight Non-Woven Fusible Interfacing keeps the bag in shape and you can add HeatnBond Liquid Vinyl Gel Coating to the lining to prevent stains and make cleaning a breeze.  Of course, the pattern calls for HeatnBond EZ Print Lite to make the applique crayon tops so much easier.

Click here to get the free tutorial and pattern over at Thermoweb!

Happy Stitching!

Welcome Fall - I'm Falling For You Blog Hop

Welcome to the first day of the

I'm Falling For You
Blog Hop!

I'm happy to kick things off with
Welcome Fall

Joan at MooseStash Quilting presented bloggers with the challenge to make something for
fall or fall-inspired.
Thank you, Joan, for inviting me to join this super fun blog hop!

Welcome Fall is a wall hanging that I designed with raw edge applique for my front door
and
is the perfect addition to my fall decor.
The leaves will be falling soon and I thought it would be fun to incorporate a basket of leaves.
I added dimension with leaves around the binding too.

My favorite product for raw edge applique is from Thermoweb.
It's HeatnBond EZ Print Lite iron-on adhesive so you can skip tracing by just printing the templates right on the paper side of the fabric adhesive.

Get inspired by all the blogs posting for Fall this week:

Monday, September 20

Tuesday, September 21

Wednesday, September 22

 Thursday, September 23

 Friday, September 24

It's so fun to get inspiration from Blog Hops.
I'm sure we will have way too many ideas swimming in our heads by the end of the week.

See you next month when Carol at Just Let Me Quilt hosts the
Ghastly Ghouls blog hop!

Official sign-ups for the November Blog Hop will start soon
(after the I'm Falling for You hop is over).

Stay tuned for the announcement here at
Creatin' in the Sticks.

Happy Fall!
