“Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too.” – Yogi Berra
Welcome to the first day of the
Hearts on Fire Blog Hop!
I'm happy to kick things off with
Play Ball!
Carol of Just Let Me Quilt has invited bloggers to make a heart project,
only the heart can't be the color red.
Thank you, Carol, for inviting me to join this super fun blog hop!
My heart is on fire for baseball.
I quilt what I love.
It may be that baseball for me means family time
whether we are watching a little league game, big league (Go Royals!), or any game in between.
The game always seems to bring us together.
We were watching my sister's oldest son play baseball last summer.
My sister has 3 sons that play baseball. If they aren't playing they are practicing and not just during the summer, but year-round.
I made this quilt for her. Baseball this time of year can be quite chilly.
The quilt is 54" x 60" and will be perfect in the stands.
Next, I used purchased bias tape for the baseball stitches and quilted it with straight lines.
and
his mom can share her quilt with me.
Or, maybe I should make one for myself...

I love putting hearts in quilts, don't you?
I'm sure by the end of the blog hop, you will have more ideas than time.
I always end up that way...
Maybe if we could all go hang out at a baseball game the world would be a happier place.

That is a GREAT quilt that accompanies your love of baseball and your family. You should definitely make one for you. =)
You made a very clever baseball heart quilt, Carla! Make one for your self, too!
I can feel your heart is full of love for baseball and family. Beautiful quilt, that is.
Such a clever use of the heart theme, and a beautiful way to celebrate your family and your love of baseball!
I love this. Modern take on a heart block for sure. Well done you!
You hit a home run on this one (sorry, just had to say it)...it is amazing! I love how your creative mind works to come up with quilts like this. Great family pics and congrats to your nephew. Thank you for always making me try harder and create more! xo
LOL Carla, that is cute. I"m sure your sister loves it. Have a great day.
I love this! A wonderful creative idea! I am a Blue Jays fan.
Love this, Carla! Very clever! The backing is really neat too. Oh, and with last night's win, even though it's not baseball, Go Chiefs!!
Such a great quilt. It captures the essence of baseball perfectly.
This is an awesome quilt!! what a great way to show your love of baseball!!!
That quilt is going to be used and loved so much. What a cool way to convey love and baseball!
This heart is so awesome, Carla!!!!! What a great idea--my heart belongs to baseball, too. Very, very striking and the perfect sentiment.
That is really fabulous for all baseball loving families as we miss watching the games. Great idea too.
I'm an avid baseball fan as well and I love this quilt!! Great idea and I'll be looking for the pattern!! Thanks so much for sharing!!
Stunning baseball quilt!! Talk about a homerun;))!!
We love baseball too in our family. My son, an avid Red Sox fan along with the rest of our family, married my DIL whose family along with her are Yankee fans--we sure have some good-natured fun times together...;))) No one is at a loss for words...hahaha
It will so exciting for you to watch your nephew play at the University level!!
Hugs, stay safe Julierose
Wonderful quilt! Thanks for sharing!
A baseball full of love. What a perfect way to enjoy the game!
Hearts and baseball make a beautiful, thoughtful gift obviously. Congrats to your nephew for being chosen to play for his university. Carla you hit a home run with this kickoff to the Hearts on Fire Blog Hop.
Awesome quilt! I love baseball, also.
Oh, this would be fun to personalize for any team colors and support in the stands. Thank you for sharing on the first day.
Very innovative and a great idea for a baseball fan.
Your quilt and your story is wonderful. I think you just made a homerun!
This quilt is fabulous and how special to be made with a purpose. Good luck to your nephew! Happy Hearts Hopping...
Very creative!!!
I like your ball heart!
That is a great quilt! We live and breathe Detroit Tiger baseball at our house, and we KNOW they'll be good again one day! (maybe just about the time they actually let fans into the stadium again!)
Oh wow, this is a fabulous hearty/basebally quilt. No doubt, your sister will love it.
This is a great baseball quilt, Carla! My mom loved the Atlanta Braves and if I had to choose a team, I guess it would be them. I much prefer football to baseball! I guess because baseball seems to move so slowly! Great job on your baseball quilt!
What a fabulous quilt. I used to watch baseball all the time.
OH gosh this quilt is amazing. I just love the baseball in a heart shape. You are so clever and talented. Thank you for sharing. You bring such smiles with your projects!!
I love this quilt!
Sew creative! You always have such cute ideas and sew them into adorable quilts ... <3 Pat
Love the quilt and it should be toastie for watching the game.
Very creative and just too darn fun!
Play ball! What a great quilt for someone who ❤ baseball.
Great quilt! Love the Yogi Bera quote...do miss my son playing - it was fun to go to his games.
Awesome use of your scrap stash, Carla!!
that's an awesome quilt! and how fun to have the state fleece on the back! You really did a great job on it!
The straight quilting really sets this off, it looks wonderful. Don't you just love that your son is taller than you?
That is awesome!
Oh what a pretty baseball quilt! Your design is very creative as well.
Beautiful family. Congrats to your nephew for making his college team! This should be called "the great American quilt" since baseball is "the great American sport" 😃. We follow the Blue Jays since our small town is their Spring Training HQ. Thank you for sharing this quilt.
Love the baseball quilt! I miss the days when all four of mine played! From one Royals fan (or Chiefs fan) to another! Have fun!
How long did you cut the pieces for the ball stitches and how did you attach them? Love this!
Hi PamelaFaye, I can't email you because you are "no reply" so I'll answer you here. The strips were cut about 2 1/2" and I hemmed one end and tucked the other end under the long strip. I pinned them in place and then edge stitched around them.
