“Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too.” – Yogi Berra
Welcome to the first day of the
Hearts on Fire Blog Hop!
I'm happy to kick things off with
Play Ball!
Carol of Just Let Me Quilt has invited bloggers to make a heart project,
only the heart can't be the color red.
Thank you, Carol, for inviting me to join this super fun blog hop!
My heart is on fire for baseball.
I quilt what I love.
It may be that baseball for me means family time
whether we are watching a little league game, big league (Go Royals!), or any game in between.
The game always seems to bring us together.
We were watching my sister's oldest son play baseball last summer.
My sister has 3 sons that play baseball. If they aren't playing they are practicing and not just during the summer, but year-round.
I made this quilt for her. Baseball this time of year can be quite chilly.
The quilt is 54" x 60" and will be perfect in the stands.
Next, I used purchased bias tape for the baseball stitches and quilted it with straight lines.
and
his mom can share her quilt with me.
Or, maybe I should make one for myself...

I love putting hearts in quilts, don't you?
I'm sure by the end of the blog hop, you will have more ideas than time.
I always end up that way...
Maybe if we could all go hang out at a baseball game the world would be a happier place.
That is a GREAT quilt that accompanies your love of baseball and your family. You should definitely make one for you. =)

That is a great quilt! We live and breathe Detroit Tiger baseball at our house, and we KNOW they'll be good again one day! (maybe just about the time they actually let fans into the stadium again!)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is a fabulous hearty/basebally quilt. No doubt, your sister will love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great baseball quilt, Carla! My mom loved the Atlanta Braves and if I had to choose a team, I guess it would be them. I much prefer football to baseball! I guess because baseball seems to move so slowly! Great job on your baseball quilt!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful family. Congrats to your nephew for making his college team! This should be called "the great American quilt" since baseball is "the great American sport" 😃. We follow the Blue Jays since our small town is their Spring Training HQ. Thank you for sharing this quilt.
ReplyDeleteLove the baseball quilt! I miss the days when all four of mine played! From one Royals fan (or Chiefs fan) to another! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteHow long did you cut the pieces for the ball stitches and how did you attach them? Love this!
ReplyDeleteHi PamelaFaye, I can't email you because you are "no reply" so I'll answer you here. The strips were cut about 2 1/2" and I hemmed one end and tucked the other end under the long strip. I pinned them in place and then edge stitched around them.
