This is the sixth challenge of Season 12 of Project Quilting.
I'm excited to join in the challenge - Ab Intra
My entry:
Heart Within
Kim at Persimon Dreams hosts Project Quilting
and
and
this is the 9th year I'm participating.
Kim announces a challenge and you have one week to create something quilty.
Prizes can be won and it's a great way to meet new blogging friends.
The rules in this challenge are that the project must be inspired by the Latin phrase, Ab Intra, which means from within. It must include either applique, piecing, or have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.
I'm on a roll with paper pieced pincushions (this is my 6th)
so
I kept with my season 12 theme and made a pincushion with super tiny pieces.
I created a pattern to show my colorful heart within trying to get out.
I'm always inspired by color and create from my heart so I created my pincushion to represent.
The finished pincushion is 4" square so you can imagine how small these pieces are.
I've had inquiries into what I use for foundation paper piecing -
I can print the pattern on the sheet from my computer and they are tough enough to allow me to stitch tiny pieces without falling apart, but I can remove the pieces easily.
All those 1/8" seams took foreveeeeeeeeeeeer!
But, either is my heart.
Guess that makes it perfect. Ha *insert smile*

So fun to see all your six pincushions in one picture. If I am the pincushion queen, you must be the princess. I'm sure you're hooked.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Your pincushions are amazing!
ReplyDeleteItty bitty pieces make for one amazing pincushion! I also made a heart for mine.
ReplyDeleteMind. BLOWN, Carla!!!
ReplyDeleteWow. So tiny. So many seams. The back of that is impressive. I love how this looks!
ReplyDeleteI love it! And how fun to see all the pincushions in one place. Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! I love all of your pincushions, too.
ReplyDeleteYou are the pin cushion queen! This newest one is so spectacular. It is so 3D that I can't stop studying it! I couldn't decide if it was the inside of a box shaped piece or what. Great optical illusion in a tiny tiny space!
ReplyDeleteThese are great pincushions. Wpw! I'd love to be making some of these beauties.
ReplyDeleteThis is so adorable! I love the tiny piecing and I LOVE your collection of pin cushions. This might have to be my secondary challenge next season!
ReplyDeleteAmazing. It's hardly possible to believe you made this without seeing the 'in progress' photos. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is quite something...so gorgeous, so small, so perfect in its design and execution. I love it! You really made these pin cushions work for this series!
