Kim announces a challenge and you have one week to create something quilty.
Prizes can be won and it's a great way to meet new blogging friends.

THE RULES:

  1. Your project must be about the alphabet.
  2. Projects need to be created during the week of the challenge (started on or after March 3, finished by March 10).
  3. Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt, but must meet at least one of these three requirements: include patchwork, include appliqué, have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.
  4. Incomplete or unfinished does not qualify. Every challenge piece must be a FINISHED project seen through from INCEPTION to COMPLETION during the challenge timeline.
  5. Link up by Sunday, March 10 at noon CDT
--------------------------------------------------------------

I have to admit, this challenge threw me a little.
It wasn't until I was working on writing a pattern this week when it occurred to me that this was my chance to play with the word art in Microsoft Word.
I've always kind of wanted to play with that little button...

So I created my letter patterns in Word, reversed the pattern and printed the letters right onto HeatnBond EZ Print Lite
(no tracing!)

Next, I used the color wheel for my inspiration and grabbed my box of Kona solids for the fabrics.
I pulled all the Aurifil 50 wt. threads I had that could match the fabrics, made the quilt sandwich and stitched around the letters.

I quilted the rest with a circular pattern in Aurifil 50 wt #2024

I thought this would make a cute pillow, so I made an envelope back and used the Kona purple fabric for the binding.

This project made me so happy to be able to pull all those rainbow colors and brighten up the studio. I used to use bright colors so much more and  I love them so much.
Maybe it's time to do more!!!

Have a "Rainbow Bright" kind of day.
