Put a Little Love In Your Quilt Blog Hop - Heart You

Welcome to
Creatin' in the Sticks
and
my day to show off my "Love" project.

Thank you Carol at Just Let Me Quilt for inviting me to this great blog hop!

I present my newest favorite quilt,

<3 You

This quilt was inspired by one I saw on a date with my hubby.
There were antique quilts hanging in the Depot Theater Company that night
and I fell in love with this one.

So this is my version.

84 inches of heart goodness.

I traced hearts onto HeatNBond Lite-all 76 of them. <3

Next I bonded them to the 12 1/2" background blocks and stitched the top edges of the hearts to form my blocks.

The quilting is dragonflies (to wrap in lightness and joy)
done with the help of the Handi Quilter Pro-Stitcher, shown here from the back of the quilt.

I made the scallop edges of the quilt with a very technical method... lol

I cut a piece of stencil plastic 12", folded it, and cut a curve in it for my pattern.

The binding had to be bias cut and I found another reason for my OttLight,
it's perfect for draping the continuous bias binding tube while it's being cut.

A label and there is a lot of love in this quilt.

I'll be keeping this one for my bedroom makeover to drape over the end of the bed.

Now hop on over to see the other blog posts for the day.

Leave them comments and make their day!

  14. Your choice in colors for reproducing that quilt is wonderful. It turned out so cute too. That's a lot of hearts to applique and you did such a nice job on them. They match up perfectly.

  15. Hi Carla,
Such a cute quilt and I love the colors. It is so funny - when I look at the quilt I only see the red hearts. I know the aqua ones are hearts, too but I see the arrow shape in those blocks. I have to force myself to see all four hearts in the corners. Really wonderful quilt and one that I would absolutely consider making. I'm going to PIN for the future! ~smile~ Roseanne

  21. How heartfull your quilt is. It sounds to me that your relationahip with hubby was a done deal with the spotting of the antique quilt. :) You're such a creative designer to be able to make up your own pattern just from a memory. Happy Heart Day.
