Sun, Sand, and Sea BOM -Block #9 - Bathing Beauty

Today the ninth block of the
Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month is revealed
and
has the link to her pattern to share.

We can't have a sunny quilt without a swimsuit, flip flops, and sunscreen.

This block,
Bathing Beauty,
is super quick to make with only a little piecing and large fused applique pieces.
This block is big at 12" x 24" finished.
The pattern is available by clicking HERE.
I pieced 1 1/2" strips for my swimsuit before I cut and appliqued it to the background.

Thanks to
Clothworks,
I'm stitching my blocks for this quilt with
American Made Brand solid fabrics.
The colors are so vibrant and nice to stitch with!
Perfect for the beach.

To applique,
I ONLY use my favorite fabric iron on adhesive by
Therm O Web,

To stitch around all those little pieces
I used my "go to" -
50 wt.

Gender Reveal Party - I'm going to be a Grandma!

Hubby and I couldn't be more excited to become grandparents
and
now we know what our first grandchild will be.

I had to take a quilt to the party.
I just didn't know what color I would be leaving.

My daughter has a great friend that planned the whole party.
Here are a few lot of the pictures....

We are all football fans and the party was all about team blue vs. team pink.

The party was such fun with tailgate food and decorations.
We even had a Ruffery.
Our first grandpuppy.

Another friend (my son's girlfriend) made the yummy cupcakes.

For the big reveal, my son-in-law was handed a practice ball first.

And he kicked the purple out of it

right at the future grandpa.

Now for the reveal....

He kicks the football
and
it's pink!!

Mommy and Daddy will have a baby girl at the end of the year!

What does this grandma do?

She gets to sewing...
By the way, I used HeatnBond Soft Stretch lite in the hems, applying the zipper, and to applique my little owl to the fleece outfit and it stayed super soft.
HeatnBond Soft Stretch  is on sale until the end of National Sewing Month.

And don't forget, you will receive my free fall pattern with every order.

I can't wait to make more soft fleece baby GIRL things.
Any suggestions?  Patterns or things I must make this sweet baby before she arrives?

P.S.  In case you missed it, Mollie has been showing off her new stocking over on the Thermoweb blog this week.  The full pattern and tutorial is HERE.
If you have time to show her some love...

Woof Woof Meow Pet Stockings

At Christmas time, are you like us and give your pets presents too?

This year Santa will have stockings to fill for our furry family members.
Mollie is ready!

Today I am over at Thermoweb with a tutorial to make quick patchwork stockings for your favorite 4 legged friends.
Those tails will be wagging with excitement when you combine
 HeatNBond fusible fleece
 with Moda's new fabric,
Woof Woof Meow by Stacy Iest Hsu
to make some super sweet pet stockings.

These fabrics are so fun and Aurifil 50 wt. in #2310 is a great match for stitching around those appliques.

I didn't forget the kitties or our shop cat, Corn Flake.
Braid a mouse tail with Aurifil 12 wt. #2479 to make your kitty purr.
The cuffs are cozy fleece just like Santa would make.

The full tutorial and free pattern is on the Thermoweb blog today.

This is a great time of year (National Sewing Month) to start Christmas projects
and
this is super beginner friendly!

While you are at Thermoweb,
check out this sale and stock up on everything you need to make
these super sweet stockings.

Happy National Sewing Month!!

Ruger is excited too.

The Christmas Caroling Row Along - Will the Real Santa Please Stand Up? - Pattern and Giveaways

Welcome to Creatin' in the Sticks
and
The Christmas Caroling Row Along.

It's been crazy making Christmas during the summer
but if you want to have a quilt finished by December it is a must.

This row was inspired by a childhood memory that may not be quite right, but I chose to go with it.

"Will the Real Santa Please Stand Up?" was a song my grade school class performed during a Christmas program at school.  When Marian from Seams to be Sew asked for designers to create quilt rows inspired by Christmas carols or poems I thought I knew exactly what I would do.  That song sprang to life in my memory bank.

What do you do when you want more information about something?

Well, I found nothing.  There is a similar skit and a lot of Youtube videos of children performing a skit and song, but it's nothing like the performance of "Will the Real Santa Please Stand Up?" in my memory.  My memory is only a song with lots of different descriptions of Santa and a "Ho, Ho, Ho, Ho" and "Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha" every once in awhile.  I even have the sheet music filed away in my mind with a picture on the front of Santas of every size and color.

This is my version of

The row finished is 9" x 30"

Special thanks for products used in this row goes to:
