Welcome to the first day of the
It's a Guy Thing
Blog Hop!
I'm happy to kick things off with my
Baseball Stadium Cushions
Carol at Just Let Me Quilt presented bloggers with the challenge to make something for a guy or tomboy, or in manly-man colors.
Thank you, Carol, for inviting me to join this super fun blog hop!
We've been very busy this summer.
I've barely been in my sewing room or here on my blog.
Why?
We have been watching a lot of baseball games.
Dodge City hosts a summer collegiate baseball team.
College athletes are recruited from all over the nation to play ball in our Kansas league.
Our team relies on host families to provide the players a home away from home during the summer
and
we decided to open our home to a player this year.
While he was a total stranger at the beginning of the summer, we have had the pleasure to get to know him and it feels like he's part of our family.
It will be very hard to say goodbye.
Now my project isn't necessarily for him, but it has certainly been better on my bum to have a cushion while I've watched over 20 of his home games on hard bleachers.
If you are interested in making your own cushion, I have a free tutorial
that is for a football version HERE.
I started the summer using the football cushions at the baseball games.
My sister-in-law poked a little fun at me and that motivated me to make a baseball set.
Baseball playing is a "Guy Thing"
but with over 40 baseball games to watch, this girl needs a cushion.

It's so fun to get inspiration from Blog Hops.
I'm sure we will have way too many ideas for our guys by the end of the week.
I'll be back to sewing and blogging more soon - after summer baseball!!!!
This is a great idea! I need to make stadium cushions for my husband and me the football field across the road has metal benches and it can be very cold on the tush in winter, this pattern will be great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I think you will be making lots of these for family and friends!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great project Carla, something easily used at so many different outdoor fun times. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThese are cool! What a neat idea to have something soft and custom for your bum for baseball.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, and the cushions are so fun!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute cushions! I have lots of that baseball fabric!
ReplyDeleteThese are a great idea! With the grandkids going back to school there will be all sorts of events to attend at their schools...those bleachers are hard! Hosting a baseball player is such a nice thing to do. I'm sure it's built a lot of memories for you and your family. Thank you for sharing! P.S. I'll be glad to see you back to sewing and blogging...miss you. xo
ReplyDeleteLove your cushions, Carla! Perfect for the bleachers!
ReplyDeletethese are a wonderful idea. thanks for sharing and for sharing the pattern.
ReplyDeleteSo that's why we haven't seen much of you lately! What a fun way to spend the summer and make new friends. Love your stadium cushions...they are so necessary on those hard bleachers, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteThose cushions are a fantastic idea!!! they are so manly too!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! My girls are not yet into sports that require anything like this but I'm sure that will all change in the coming years! Thanks for the tutorial link and great project!
ReplyDeleteWonderful looking cushions that serve a great purpose, what could be better than that?
ReplyDeleteOOOOhhh MyGosh. How cute is that baseball themed cushion. Makes me want to go back to the days I watched my own son play baseball!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are enjoying yourself. Love your cushions.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat terrific ideas, both having a baseball playing house guest and the comfy cushion on hand for watching some great games.
ReplyDeleteSeat cushions are the best! The only way anyone gets me to a baseball game is if I know someone playing (or they promise me a Snicker bar), so how fun to host a player and get to watch them! Walla Walla also has a minor league team, the Sweets, but I haven't heard much from them this year. Hopefully they're still playing and I'm just living in my tiny bubble LOL.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I need to make these for our swim meets!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea.....they will make the hardest seat so much more comfortable.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and so, so cute!
ReplyDeleteGood idea, thank you.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute!
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic. Enjoy the games :)
ReplyDeleteThese stadium cushions are a great idea! I remember the old days of vinyl covered cushions and a sweaty bottom. Your ball themed cushions look fabulous. They make me wish I knew someone that goes to and watches sports so that I could make a gift of them. Great inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHeck ya! So Clever. I love how they say reserved on the reverse side.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I love the idea of hosting a young man on his journey to stardom. I love the cushions - great job.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea, Carla!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! I did make not of the tutorial page because I would love to make a few of this to take on my camper. I can use them to sit on the (sometimes dirty) picnic tables. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWonderful. I've always loved that 'baseball' design but the Reserved is perfect, too. Soooo manly.
ReplyDeleteAdorable cushions. Thank you for the tutorial also.
ReplyDeleteNice seat cushions. We hosted summer theatre actors for several summers. We learned so much about theatre from them!
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea and nice to see normal un-masked people, things are still shut down here so you wouldn't see it in NC...
ReplyDeleteTerrific idea! Sounds like your having a good summer
ReplyDeleteCarla your baseball cushion is absolutely perfect! So glad to hear you are having a wonderful summer!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea! They are very cool and handy! xx
