This is the fifth challenge of Season 12 of Project Quilting.
I'm excited to join in the challenge - You're Crazy
My entry:
Pin Crazy
Kim at Persimon Dreams hosts Project Quilting
and
and
this is the 9th year I'm participating.
Kim announces a challenge and you have one week to create something quilty.
Prizes can be won and it's a great way to meet new blogging friends.
The rules in this challenge are that the project must be inspired by the late 1800's "crazy quilt" movement. It must include either applique, piecing, or have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.
I'm on a roll with paper pieced pincushions (this is my 5th)
so
I kept with my season 12 theme and made tiny "crazy quilt" blocks.
It includes satin, lace, and batik fabrics.
Instead of hand embroidery, I used some stitches on my Janome sewing machine with metallic thread.
The finished pincushion is 4" square so you can imagine how small these pieces are.
I've had inquiries into what I use for foundation paper piecing -
I can print the pattern on the sheet from my computer and they are tough enough to allow me to stitch tiny pieces without falling apart, but I can remove the pieces easily.
I use tweezers to remove those little bits.
I have a friend that made a huge beautiful Crazy Quilt that I think she named, 20 Years, for the time she spent on it.
The closest thing to a Crazy Quilt I've ever made was this little
cross stitch ornament.
Until now...
