Virtual Cookie Exchange and Christmas Blog Hop

It's time to make Christmas happen here in the Sticks

and

my friend Carol at Just Let Me Quilt
has a way of pushing me to get my projects finished on time.

Welcome to
Creatin' in the Sticks!

I'm excited to kick off the
where bloggers are sharing Christmas cookies recipes, traditions,
and/or
sewing projects.
Thank you, Carol, for including me!

Merry Christmas!

It's been a crazy year and I think we are all ready to start a new one.
Then Christmas comes along and things seem a little happier and brighter.

I've been busy making a few things
including these ornament potholders.

They are 8" potholders and so fun to make.
The perfect way to use leftover Christmas fabrics and batting scraps.

A double layer of cotton batting inside and the stripes are a
pleated effect to add extra heat protection.

It always seems like my kitchen lacks in Christmas decor
and these will be super cute hanging on the backsplash.

They would make great gifts too!

But you are here not only for Christmas inspiration but for some virtual cookies.

These cookies are so good and not too sweet.
A friend gave me some last year and I just had to have the recipe.
They are made with a pie crust - there is no way that can be wrong!!!
Cranberries, walnuts, orange zest, and drizzled in honey.

It's Christmas in a bite!

They remind me of my Grandma making pinwheels
out of leftover pie dough with cinnamon sugar and butter.

The recipe is over at diethood.

If you want more cookie recipes, you are in luck.

Please leave each one a sweet comment.
Spread some Christmas cheer.

Thank you for stopping by
and
thank you, Carol, for this fun hop!

I hope your Christmas is amazing!

  5. Your cookies look very tempting, and I am starting my baking this week, so they may just find their way onto my list Carla. I also love your pot holders!!! Is there a pattern for them, and if so, where can I find it. Thanks again for the recipe.

  6. Cutest pot holders ever! I think most of my pot holders are at least twenty years old and are pretty worn out. Need to make some cute ones like those! Anything in the middle of a doughy pinwheel is my kind of yummy...they look delicious. Thank you, Carla, for kicking off this annual blog hop with so much sweetness! xo

  15. Carla those hot pads are just the cutest! I’m going to have to make some for next year’s Christmas hampers. Thank you. Now I’m off to make some pie dough to make these goodies. I just happen to have all of the ingredients 😉. Thank you for sharing both with us.

  22. Hi Carla! Those ornament potholders are so cute! I've been PINing them so I remember them. I can just picture them hanging from my upper cabinets, adding a bit of holly and jolly but also practicality when needed to be used. And those pinwheels look yummy. I agree with you - Carol is the best to get all of us roped together into one fun hop. Thanks for sharing. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  23. I want one of those pinwheels right now just because they look amazing and I'm ready for a pinwheel. Thanks for the recipe; I'll be sure to try this one out. Cute potholders though they'd be perfect as an ornament - I'd make them a big smaller, though. :)

  26. My MIL used to call these types of cookies doodads and she made hers with just pie crust, cinnamon and sugar. Haven't made those in years! I suspect your version is much tastier though. And I love your ornie project!

  31. Those cookies are quite tempting. Sounds yummy indeed and perhaps easy enough with a pie crust. There are rugelach cookies that use a similar technique. I love your pot holders that double as decor. I think they seem more like trivets to me and we could probably debate the difference between pot holders and trivets for months to come!! Suffice it to say that they're adorable and perfect for sprucing up your holiday!!! Thanks so much for always inspiring us!!

  33. These are cute potholders and you can make them so different with the same pattern - thank you. I'm not a sweet eater, but the cookies look wonderful.
