One Die Wonder - Swept Away

The March Challenge for the
Island Batik Ambassadors is
One Die Wonder with Accuquilt
and

today I'm excited to share
Swept Away.

As Island Batik Ambassadors,
we were to create a quilt
that were included in the ambassador boxes.

The fabrics are
the Island Batik Cascadia collection strip set that was designed by Claudia Pfeil of Claudia Pfeil Designs and white fabric from the Island Batik solid collection.

The Accuquilt GO! cutting system makes quick work of cutting and I had my blocks cut out in no time.

I paired the Chimney Sweep blocks with snow ball blocks. I was able to cut the corners I used for the blocks with the same triangle that was used in the Chimney Sweep blocks.
They made me hungry for Doritos...

The blocks took an afternoon to make and then the quilt was set to put together.
The piecing was so fast.

Each block was stitched with Aurifil 50 wt #2021 and a Schmetz Microtex (Sharp) Chrome 70/10 needle.  If you haven't tried these needles, they are perfect for the tight weave of the Island Batik fabrics.

I used an Island Batik Foundation fabric in yellow for the outside border.

I did the quilting with my Handi Quilter Avante long arm pro-stitcher
using Glide Trilobal Polyester 40 wt white thread (pattern: Broken Glass).  Hobbs Heirloom Premium Cotton batting is in the middle.

I pieced the binding with leftover strips from the Island Batik Cascadia collection.

For the times, I included a picture of
Swept Away
with our sidewalk drawings.
What a month, right?
It's the first time I've posted on the last day of the month for my ambassador challenges.

Stay home and stay safe!

  1. I love the way you did this - one point, blues and green on the outside, reds/oranges on the inside! It is stunning!

  3. This is so pretty, and I'm glad you included some of the sidewalk art. The doritos comment made me laugh out loud! Yes, the triangles are that perfect shape and color. Maybe Island Batik needs to rename that fabric?? lol

  5. Awesome! Rainbows are the theme everyway - even here. Doritos - we are all being addicted to more food than normally being inside too much. That kitchen is just hard to stay out of.
