Today is the 4th day of the
Log Cabin Blog Hop
where all the new fabric collections are being showcased.
What better way to show the gorgeous new Island Batik fabric collections
than with log cabin quilt blocks?
I'm thrilled to share my quilt today,
"Point Me to the Cabin"
and these Colorpop fabrics are certainly one of my favorites!
by Kathy Engle.
I fell in love with the Colorpop fabrics at first sight.
All that color made me want to use each fabric from the collection.
I chose to piece 1/4 log cabin blocks with Island Batik Foundation fabric in solid white
and the colors in the Colorpop collection.
Each block was stitched with Aurifil 50 wt #2021 and a Schmetz Microtex (Sharp) Chrome 70/10 needle. If you haven't tried these needles, they are perfect for the tight weave of the Island Batik fabrics.
Rainbow is my favorite color and I loved the opportunity to piece the blocks on point and let the colors travel down the quilt.
I don't set blocks on point very often, but I love how it can totally change to look of the blocks.
I had so much fun watching this quilt come to life with each row
and
love that it's colorful and bright.
I quilted circles in an edge to edge design with
Hobbs Tuscany Collection cotton wool blend batting in the middle.
and
love that it's colorful and bright.
I quilted circles in an edge to edge design with
Hobbs Tuscany Collection cotton wool blend batting in the middle.
I found out I really like this cotton and wool blend batting for the way the quilting pops
and the soft drape of the quilt.
I did the quilting with my Handi Quilter Avante long arm pro-stitcher
using Glide Trilobal Polyester 40 wt white thread.
The backing and binding fabrics are from the Colorpop collection and I used an extra block on the back for a label.
The name of the quilt came from setting the blocks on point.
The fabrics featured in this blog hop are from the Island Batik Fall 2019 collections
and
will be coming to stores very soon.
Be sure to ask your local quilt shop for Colorpop!
Giveaway Time!!
I am happy to share a sampling of the

Love both your quilt and the name. It reminded me of the cabin my father built in southern Illinois. There were no roads in to it, so we had to hike in and carry all our supplies. I have some great memories of camping there. Nancy A: SewingGranda@gmail.com
