I've been so inspired by all the buffalo check prints and plaids
this Christmas.
They seem to be everywhere from decor to clothing.
This wrapping paper inspired me to make a Christmas throw.
I found the black and white striped fabric that was perfect for this project
but
you certainly do not want to work with that fabric too long.
Dizzy is not a strong enough word to say how I felt at times while I cut the fabric.
Once it was cut in smaller bias pieces, I could work with it a little easier.
This quilt is simple square piecing with a half square triangle bow
and
HeatNBond Lite used for an applique tag.
I stitched arouond the appliqued tag with 50 wt. Aurifil thread.
Quilted with snowflakes and backed with Minky, it will certainly be a nice cozy
Christmas present.
But you are here not only for Christmas inspiration but for some virtual cookies.
If you love coconut as much as I do, you'll love this recipe.
It's not super sweet, but it is a jazzy version of an oatmeal cookie.
I made the recipe a JPG file so just right-click on it to save it.
You could add raisins or chocolate chips, but this little one likes them just like the recipe.

ReplyDeleteI love that warm and cozy quilt that you made. That backing looks so very warm, but boy can I understand why the stripes could make you dizzy in big amounts. I love any cookie with coconut. I will be making these cookies very soon just like that adorable little one likes them.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love that plaid quilt! I was convinced it was pre-made and you added the bow until I saw the fabrics you used. Clever woman! It is wonderful! Those cookies look awesome too. I think coconut added to anything makes it better so these cookies will be a must-make for me. Your granddaughter is a cutie (as all granddaughters are).

Hi Carla! Thank you SO much for the yummy cookie recipe. I adore coconut and then to pair it with an oatmeal cookie - yumEEEEEEE. I can hardly wait to make some. I also adore Buffalo plaid - that mug you shared in the background is the bomb. I have been meaning to make a Buffalo plaid quilt of my own and you are certainly inspiring me to do so. You just keep making that cookie recipe the way sweetpea likes them. How adorable is she?!! That photo makes me want to scoop her up, give her a cookie and see what's on her mind. ReplyDeleteThe cookies look yummy and the quilt is lovely. I got advice years ago from a shop owner who said to close one eye when cutting fabrics with stripes or dots and it truly does cut down on that dizzy feeling!
