Small, Smaller, Smallest Blog Hop

The challenge:
said, "Make something small"
and
show everyone what you made.

So I made a small quilt

using my latest quilt block pattern, Deer Meadow.
It's block #2 of the

I made the applique quilt block center and added scrappy 6 1/2" blocks for the border.
This is the first time I have backed a quilt with minky fabric and I love it!!
I quilted it with flowers on the Handi Quilter.
The quilt is 36" square and is a small project for me.

Then I made a smaller project,
a little dress (0-3 months) using 1 1/2" patchwork in the bodice that matches the small quilt.

The pattern is Catherine by Violette Field Threads and was fun to make.
I just made my patchwork and cut the pattern for the bodice and sleeve cuffs.

Now for some people, 1 1/2" patchwork isn't that small,
so I decided on a project that is the smallest.

Tiny Mary Janes.

I marked an 1" grid on HeatnBond Light weight interfacing.

I cut out a billion lot of 1" pieces to match the quilt and the dress
and fused them to the interfacing.

Then I folded and sewed the seams on the interfacing to make 1/2" finished patchwork
to make the smallest baby booties (0-3 months)
for my sweet, new granddaughter.

They are almost too small, but they will make great Christmas tree ornaments.  lol
The pattern for the baby shoes is in the book, "making children's clothes" by Emma Hardy.
If you make these, I highly recommend making the larger size (3-9 months).

It was my idea to make the shoes patchwork

which made the smallest project one of the longest projects.

Thank you, Carol for hosting this fun little hop.

Small, Smaller, Smallest.

This is the smallest love of my life.

and I love making small little gifts for her.

p.s. I hope my direct sunlight photos didn't blind you...
Lesson learned.

  27. What a sweet little small person. Those babies sure do grow quickly so making an outfit a bit bigger has a better chance to be used for longer. Wonderful projects; I'm particularly in love with the booties and that precious little dress.
