30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days - Blocks 20 and 21, Classic and Spot in a Quilt Top

I love combining quilt blocks for quilts
and
blocks 20 and 21
are great blocks to merge for a classic look.

Block #20

Classic

Size Unfinished: 10 1/2" x 10 1/2"
Finished Size: 10 x 10"

Cut 4 rectangles 3" x 51/2" - white
Cut 4 squares 3" x 3" - red
Cut 1 square 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" - red

Stitch them together as laid out with 1/4" seams.

Stitch the corner squares to the small side rectangles
then stitch the top and bottom middle rectangles to the middle square.
Next stitch the three columns together.

Block #21

Spot

Size Unfinished: 10 1/2" x 10 1/2"
Finished Size: 10 x 10"

Cut 2 rectangles 3" x 4 1/4" - white
Cut 1 square 3" x 3" - green
Cut 2 rectangles 4 1/4" x 10 1/2"

Stitch them together as laid out with 1/4" seams.

Stitch the small rectangles to the square
then stitch the large top and bottom rectangles to the center unit.

Now put these blocks together and make a super colorful quilt.

I made this one with 15 of each block in Christmas colors from my boxes of scraps.
It finishes at 50" x 60" in a 5 block by 6 block grid.

It's the perfect size for a Christmas throw.

  5. Such a pretty quilt! I like the not-so-busy look of it so much that I need to make one to accentuate some of mine with the Busy Look!
