The Road Home Row Along - Dodge City, Kansas

Welcome to Creatin' in the Sticks!
Dodge City, that is.

You've probably heard this at one time or another.

You can see, around here we say
"Get the h*** out of Dodge"
 a bit different.

Some of us like it here.

On my road home this is what I see.

In fact, there are metal cowboys everywhere.
Even in my front yard...

My hubby created this one.

Cowboys and the beautiful sunrise and sunsets inspired me to create my row for

The row finished is 12" x 36"

You can download the pattern at my Craftsy Pattern shop.
Click this button.

I think this row would make a fun quilt for any cowboy.
The letters are optional...

The other rows available in the row along today are:

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Seasons of Love

It's time for the

Blogger’s Quilt Festival :: Fall 2016 Edition

I want to thank Amy over at Amy's Creative Side for hosting the Blogger's Quilt Festival.  I have found some great ideas and wonderful works of art.  I am inspired!

It was a toss up where to enter this quilt, Seasons of Love, but I decided on the small quilt category even though this is my original design.

I made this quilt for Project Quilting.
Kim at Persimon Dreams hosts Project Quilting and announces a challenge.
You then have one week to create something quilty.
This was the second challenge of six for Season 7 of Project Quilting and the challege was seasons.

If you've seen the musical (or movie), Rent, it's easy to recognize my inspiration for this quilt.
"Seasons of Love" is a song from the Tony award winning musical written by Jonathan Larson.

I've been watching my friend Vickie over at More Stars in Comanche make the most beautiful collage quilts and decided to try my own version of one.
I would say the above picture pretty much tells the story of how I put it all together.

And a rough draft of the words going around the heart.
That's 525,600 minutes.  The total minutes in a year.  The colors represent the seasons and the ups and downs of love.
I could go deeper here, but I'm sure you get the drift....

After everything was fused down I did as quilters say, "I quilted the crap out of it"
or
"matchstick quilted."
That will hold all those free edges down.

Blogger’s Quilt Festival Stats
Finished quilt measures : 38" x 38" wall hanging
Special techniques used : collage quilting and applique
Quilted by : Me :)  matchstick on my domestic

Voting is September 25th - 30th.

In Our Garden Blocks for September

This is definitely going to be my favorite quilt of all time.

The
In Our Garden Block of the Month blog hop
Hosted by Amy over at
has the cutest blocks and I've kept up with the blocks all year (so far).

This month, Pat over at Life in Scrapatch shared 2 of her designs and also added
 a bonus block!!!

These are blocks 15 and 16.
The pieced one is called, " Granny Garden Block" and the applique block is "Pumpkin Time."

Pat designed the bonus block to showcase the cute farm girl from Riley Blake Designs "Farm Girl" collection.

I was lucky enough to receive Riley Blake fabrics for this quilt.
I think the farm girl looks jazzy with  fabrics in Botanique by fabric designer Lila Tueller.

Of course I used my favorite fabric iron on adhesive by ThermowebHeatnBond® Lite, for the fusible appliques.

Here is the list of bloggers and the months:

February - Blocks 1 and 2

March - Blocks 3 and 4
Carol – Just Let Me Quilt

April -  Blocks 4 and 5

Bonus Block

May - Blocks 7 and 8

June - Blocks 9 and 10

July- Blocks 11 and 12

August - Blocks 13 and 14

I can't wait to see what Vicki has in store for us next month.

Have a great weekend!
