My Dear- Oh Deer Collage Quilt

Over a year ago I started this quilt and it has been sitting in a corner of my studio.
I'm excited to show her off as a finish!

My Dear
"Oh Deer" collage quilt

This quilt started when my friend Vickie over at More Stars in Comanche caught my eye with her "Oh Deer" quilt.  I was in love and was thrilled when she posted the link to order the pattern and kit to make it.  Like her, my heart was singing about this form of quilting.
Right away I ordered my first quilt kit EVER!  I wanted to learn how to do this.
I ordered the pattern and kit by Laura Heine  of Fiberworks in Billings, Montana.
In no time at all I was putting my quilt together.

I love the process.

I happened upon Tula Pink's Moonshine fabric
at my LQS (2 1/2 hours away)
one day and knew it was the perfect backing fabric for for the quilt.
Then life happened and for some reason my little deer hung out in the corner for a year.
This week she came out of the corner.

Because you just don't sit Baby in the corner...

Matchstick quilting to hold all those raw edges down.

Now I just don't look at fabric the same.
I'm always thinking, "I wonder if I could use that in a collage quilt?".
I have more floral fabrics in my stash than ever before.

But not just floral - bugs and birds too.

I really love the fabrics in the kit and added a few of my own to make the quilt one of a kind.

This form of quilting has opened new ideas in my head.
Maybe that's why My Dear - Oh Deer sat in the corner for so long.
Remember Sparkle?  Remember Seasons of Love?
Both were inspired by My Dear - Oh Deer.

Have a super weekend!!
