Stitching Sunshine Blog Hop Sign Ups

Are you ready for a little sunshine?
We have all been through the wringer lately.

We will be celebrating sunshine and the color yellow in June
with a blog hop.

What is a Blog Hop?

It's like a "show and tell" online.
Our blog hops feature sewing and quilting and are like joining a quilt guild without leaving home.  Once the theme (challenge) is presented we set to work sewing.
We inspire each other with projects, tutorials, or patterns.

Stitching Sunshine Blog Hop
I have been craving a little sunshine in my life.
Something happy and fun.
No more cloudy days and blah.

SO

Let's stitch something up with the color yellow or with a little sunshine.
It doesn't have to be a quilt, by the way.

Let's celebrate getting out of the doldrums and make some bright happy projects.

It doesn't have to be only yellow or only sunshine.
Make it with any other colors, just have some yellow.

Anything will do.  It's your interpretation of
Stitching Sunshine!

The blog hop rules:
sorry, there has to be a little organization...

Post your project on your assigned day.

Have a giveaway or don't have a giveaway. It's totally optional!

Visit everyone's blog on the list and leave a sweet comment. Make friends!!!!

Are you in?

Creative Borders and Binding - The Other Side of April 2020

The April Challenge for the
Island Batik Ambassadors is
Creative Borders and Binding
and
today I'm excited to share
The Other Side of April 2020.

As Island Batik Ambassadors,

we've all done rectangular and square quilts.
Now it's time to try something different.

The fabrics are from the Island Batik Fall/Winter 2019
Kismet collection that was designed by Tammy Silvers of Tamarinis,
background fabric from the Island Batik Neutrals collection (Yolk),
and
the large umbrella and inner border is Cat Scratch in Watermelon
from the Foundation collection.
The umbrella handles are in the Island Batik Solids collection in black.

I chose a quilt block from my Etsy store called

The quilt block was enlarged, appliqued with fusible HEATnBOND® LITE, and stitched with a blanket stitch in Aurifil 50 wt thread with a new Schmetz Super Nonstick 80/12 needle.

Next, I created a border of
applique rainbows and umbrellas

I did the quilting with my Handi Quilter Avante long arm pro-stitcher
using Glide Trilobal Polyester 40 wt white thread (pattern: Broken Glass).

Once the quilting was finished, I trimmed the edges away to make a scalloped border.

The Other Side of April 2020 was finished with a continuous bias binding in
Island Batik basic, Tourmaline (one of my favorites).

In looking beyond the month of April 2020, I named this quilt.
This quilt represents a lot of things after a storm
and
that is what I look forward to.

May there soon be rainbows...

Plush Bunny Ears Applique

It's fun to make projects when our wee one is visiting.

Have you tried HeatnBond Soft Stretch Fusible Web Adhesive yet?  It’s a lightweight iron-on web adhesive specially designed to move with your stretch fabric while maintaining a strong bond.  HeatnBond Soft Stretch Fusible Web Adhesive is perfect if you are appliqueing on a tee or knit fabrics. Better yet, these bunny ears can be appliqued with stretchy plush, Minky fabric and still be super soft.

The free pattern to make your own appliqued t-shirt is over at
Thermoweb today.

I think if you stitched some whiskers on the heart nose
it would be even cuter.
I wish I would have thought about that before I turned the project in.

Look how she has grown in 2 years...

Have a happy Easter at home!
